Many among us know what it is to have tender tummies. From minor post-binge tummy aches (Halloween and Thanksgiving, I’m talking about you) to things like Celiac or Crohn’s, tummies can be tricky things that we have to treat gently. At Tabby’s Place, there are lots of cats whose tummies are super tender, and we […]
Decades before there were lollipops stuffed with bubble gum or chocolate taffy, an entrepreneur created square hard candies that were individually wrapped in cellophane. He called them Charms. This changed my life forever. For my father’s mother, Charms were a little something to moisten her mouth, a little treat for a grandchild. For her, every […]

My second act would be to mandate that we all use the word […]
PBS has spent almost my entire life reminding us that some television productions and movies are of superior quality to others. Alistair Cooke welcomed us to watch Masterpiece Theater for 21 years, so we could join him in enjoying some of these fine films and series.
There’s a very tiny squirrel with no tail in my local rodent community. Not a nubbin. Not a shnubbin. Not even a tuftlet of a hint of a bygone blump. She’s the runt. She’s the weirdo. She’s in a perpetual state of joy. She’s undeniably in charge. We are collectively, irrevocably, exuberantly in love with […]
