Bequests and other planned donations are generally the largest, most life-saving gifts Tabby’s Place receives each year. We depend on these selfless gifts for our survival.

Including Tabby’s Place in your plans today will mean life and hope for the cats of tomorrow.

Ways to Give

There are many ways to design a charitable bequest in your will or trust agreement. These may include:

• A residual bequest, which provides to Tabby’s Place all or a percentage of your estate after all other bequests, debts, taxes, and expenses have been distributed.
• A contingent bequest, which provides to Tabby’s Place all or a portion of your estate if circumstances make it impossible to carry out your primary provisions (as when your spouse or other heirs do not survive you).
• A specific bequest, which provides to Tabby’s Place a specific dollar amount, percentage of your estate, or piece of property.
• To get started on your plans and legacy, you can use FreeWill, an online tool that guides you through the process of creating your will or trust. It’s easy to use, accessible online, and can be completed in 20 minutes. You can use this resource on its own, or use it to document your wishes before finalizing your plans with an attorney.

You can also name Tabby’s Place as a beneficiary of all or a portion of:

• Your life insurance policy
• Your retirement assets, including your IRA, 401k, 401b, or pension.

You can make a gift of a specific investment account by establishing a transfer or successor upon death. These may include:

• Stocks, bonds, or mutual funds
• CDs, Money Market, Savings, or Checking Accounts
• Name Tabby’s Place as the successor of your Donor Advised Fund (DAF)

We recommend you discuss the options and work through details with your attorney and/or financial advisor as you prepare to update your will or your beneficiary designations.

If you wish to make a bequest to Tabby’s Place, the language of the bequest can be relatively simple: “I give, devise and bequeath the (sum of/percentage of/residue of my estate) to TABBY’S PLACE: A CAT SANCTUARY, INC.”
