Panthera

As proven by its occasional rhapsodizing about Alan Alda and One Direction, this blog is not generally pinned to the pulse of celebrity news.

But this week’s star sorrow demands a response. The world has lost its beloved Black Panther, Chadwick Boseman.

In a year that seems as though it just takes and takes and takes, this news took us all by surprise. Mr. Boseman — and the hero he portrayed — was a source of hope and joy for so many. His passing at 43 is all too cruel in a year already all too vicious.

So today, Felis Catus makes the rare move of dedicating an entire entry to a “famous person” — but, even more, to the courage his most iconic character inspired, here placed in the mouths of our tiny panthera. Wakanda forever.

Show them who you are.
You are going to struggle, so you need to surround yourself with people you trust.
We will work to be an example of how we as brothers and sisters on this earth should treat each other.
We all know the truth: more connects us than divides us. But in times of crisis, the wise build bridges, while the foolish build barriers.
Today, we don’t fight for just one life. We fight for all of them.
You are a good man with a good heart, and it is difficult for a good man to be king.
I will not abandon someone to die, when I have the means to save his life.
Together we will always rise.

Let’s especially remember that last one, kittens. This day, this week, this baffling year, may we rise together.
