Love stories: Bellis

bellissmileThere may be eight million stories in the Naked City and only about fourteen in Ringoes.

But when we factor in the cats, there are one hundred meellion stories Casa Tabby. Bellis‘ is one of them…and, as you’ll see, she’s so much more than just another story.

warmcatsSpecial thanks to Bellis’ AwesomeAdopter – who deserves that title in spades – for penning the following and including these swoonworthy photos. (In fact, you’d be wise to have a soft blanket waiting to catch your thud when you literally do swoon. Don’t say I didn’t warn ya.)

“Bellis is definitely my Valentine this year.

“About 18 months ago, I started sponsoring Bellis. From the first day I was in love with her sweet little face, and every month when I would get an update I was surprised that no one had scooped her up.

“I had mentioned several times to her correspondent how much I wished I could make Bellis a permanent part of my family. Finally, everything fell into place and my wonderful husband agreed to allow me to adopt Bellis. I was so excited!

“From day one, Bellis turned my world upside down. I thought there would be a period of time where we would have to take things slow so she could get used to her new home. Nope. Not Bellis. Her blindness didn’t stop her one bit, and it still doesn’t.

3catschair“She quickly made friends with two of my existing cats, and now they spend all their time together. Maggie and Happy mostly enjoy having Bellis around, although there are times when, believe it or not, she chases them for a forced wrestling session.

“Bellis is four, but she still acts like a kitten. She loves to play with her jingle feathers and ball track scratcher, and her favorite is her ball with a bell in it.

“We play ‘Belly Ball’ several time a day. If you didn’t know Bellis was blind, you would never be able to tell. She runs full steam across the room to jump on the ball and flip upside down. I just love this little girl. After all this play she loves to sit on my lap and have a nap. And if she can convince Maggie to give her a bath, that’s even better.

cat-bed-squeeze-2I spend a lot of time reading in my chair with my three girls on my lap. I hope to spend many more years there, unable to move because I don’t want to disturb my little angels. Yes, they have trained me well.

“So thank you, Tabby’s Place, for allowing me to make Bellis a part of my life. Your sponsorship program for Special Needs cats is the best thing that ever happened to me, and I will continue to participate probably forever.

I really could not have asked for a better, more lovable or more amazing cat than my Bellis. I love this girl to bits. She surprises me every day. I hope to be sending you many happy updates for many, many years to come.

Here’s to all those years decades an entire eon of Bellis, and all the swooning we can stand for ages to come. Thank you for making the leap from sponsor to mama, Mrs. Bellis.

PS: A certain snow-white “sugar cat” would not permit me to publish this post without noting that Mrs. Bellis was first Mrs. Malcolm. Bellis is the second of this AwesomeAdopter’s sponsorees-turned-adoptees. I hear that mouthy, marvelous Malcolm is okay with sharing his spotlight…most of the time.

  1. I am so happy Bellis has a forever home and from a sponsor.
Bellis was one of my favorite cats at Tabby’s Place. I used to call her “Bellis of the Ball”, like Bell of the Ball.

  2. *swoon*
OK, now that I’m back up off the floor…I have to say, awwwwwwwwwwwwww. I love updates like this!
Much love and many kisses for Sweet Bellis.
