Charlotte the victorious

090610-charlotte-227x300I’ve gotta believe there really is someone for everyone.

An Edith for every Archie. A Jack for every Rose. A pea for every carrot. An AwesomeAdopter for every timid, kooky, quirky cat.

Lest we doubt this for a moment, Mrs. Charlotte writes today with an update on her exceptionally timid, decidedly kooky, awesomely quirky and totally cherished girl. Feast your heart on this match-made-in-heaven:

“Hi Angela. Here’s my long delayed update. …

Charlotte and Pumpkin get along pretty well. Charlotte’s still unsure of us humans and is easily startled. She runs and hides sometimes when I get home. Her favorite hiding place is my kayak in the second bedroom. I was thinking today that maybe I should keep that bedroom closed to force her to be more social.

“Charlotte’s pretty neat, though. She’s pretty inquisitive, supervising me in the kitchen and when I”m cleaning the litter box. I’ve had some opportunities to pet her. but it’s still difficult getting close to her.

“On the medical front, I finally took her to the vet earlier this year. I had quite the time, chasing her around the apartment to get her into the carrier! The record is Charlotte 4, vet 1, in trying to keep her from escaping when we take her out for the exam. She is so strong and wily! It took two vet techs last time to outwit her.

“Unfortunately, the vet diagnosed her with stomatitis – which would explain her hanging tongue. She’s been on a steroid and also an antibiotic a couple of times. The stomatitis seems to be responding well to the medication. What a relief! I can’t imagine a toothless Charlotte!

”So…Charlotte’s slowly becoming more social. I’m hoping her brain will make the connection one day soon and start trusting her human more! :-)”

In the meantime, Mrs. Charlotte, know that you’ve already fulfilled all of Charlotte’s deepest needs by loving her just the way she is. Timid or dance-on-the-tables gregarious; ruthless or toothless; standard-issue or Special Needs – I have a wonderful feeling that little Charlotte is truly adored in this forever home, whatever the future may hold.

For that, Mrs. Charlotte, we cannot possibly thank you enough.

Make no mistake: Charlotte has been victorious in finding this AwesomeAdopter…and even her new passion for kayaking would never sail her away from such a sweet victory.

  1. This seems like the perfect home for little Charlotte, and I love the photo of her with Pumpkin. Once you find a cat friend to take naps with, everything else falls into place. 🙂
