Love stories: Luciano

valentinecatThis Valentine’s Day, our loving cup runneth over at Tabby’s Place.

The magnificent seven Love Stories made the front page, yes…but those seven slots were several too few to hold all the stories and sweetness of 2010’s adoptions. So, all this Valentine’s month, we’ll be featuring glimmers of true love here on Felis Catus. Settle in with your favorite feline; it’s going to be a snuggly ride, starting with none other than No Solo He-O, Luciano. Special thanks to Luciano’s adoring family, Bob and Chris, for our first love story.

Luciano: He had us at “hello”

When we were “interviewing” kitties at Tabby’s Place, we first met Luciano.

We’d planned to follow this with a visit back to the Quarantine area, where we would”suit up” to look at the new kittens. We spent a while petting Luciano. He just looked up at up at us with those beautiful eyes and that “chocolate milk” mustache. When asked if we were ready to see the kittens, we looked at each other and said, “Nah…We want THAT one!”

"Throw my ball, throw my ball!"
"Throw my ball, throw my ball!"

Life at home with Luciano is so much fun. Let me start by saying that he thinks he’s a dog. He has these little foam soccer balls that he LOVES. (No, let me rephrase that…that he is OBSESSED with.) If you throw the ball once, you have to throw it 100 times. He runs, fetches it, and brings it back, dropping it at your feet so you can throw it again. It’s good because he gets his exercise and so do we (bending is very good for the waistline). He’s smart, too. If you don’t throw the ball, he picks it back up, walks to the other side of the room, and walks back with it and drops it (as if to say, “Hey, dummy, I want you to throw the ball over there”.)

When not playing ball, Luciano sits in his box, sleeps in his bed, watches birds out the window, or makes mischief. Is he naughty sometimes? Sure. He’s all boy. However, the good far outweighs the bad. All he has to do is look up at us with those eyes and all is forgotten.

He greets us at the door every night and he is friendly with all who come into the house. Everyone just loves him. We are so happy with our choice. He is our buddy for life.

  1. Awwww. This is what Tabby’s Place is all about, thank you for this story of love on Valentine’s Day. Luciano seems like a character and I love that it was love at first sight for his family.
They didn’t even want to see the kittens!
    That’s love!

  2. Everybody looks and sounds tickled pink in Luciano Land. Any kitty who knows how to play fetch AND is also the proud owner of a feline mustache rocks mightily. This is one of the unwritten Rules Of The Universe. 🙂

  3. Hehe. All the pictures are fantastic, but I love that last picture. There is a box and a cat bed next to each other. Luciano chose the cardboard box. Hehehe.

  4. I can barely type, my eyes are tearing up so bad, such a happy story. It warms my heart to hear how lovely Luciano landed himself such a special family. Much love to them all at Casa Luciano!
