Dear Carrot Friends,
Carrot had a mostly peaceful month, with many stroller walks with his volunteer friends. However, there were two not so peaceful days at Tabby’s Place this month. We had to have the roof fixed, it had been leaking into the solariums for some time, so it needed to be done. We had no idea how much this would freak all the cats out!
We closed the tubes to the solariums because of the noise, and because of debris falling into them, but the noise could still be heard in the suites, and the cats were NOT happy. Wilbur was particularly upset and paced around Suite C constantly. Carrot friends, Sparkly and Pancake, were hiding at the top of the ramp in the suite, and the other cats were nowhere to be seen.
Carrot was probably the least fazed by all the commotion. At the beginning, he looked a little concerned at what the noise could be, but after a while, he was back to his usual self and acting like nothing was happening. Carrot is a very confident, laid-back guy, which really helps when there is a team of roofers banging away just above the cats’ heads. As soon as the roof was complete all the cats breathed a sigh of relief and went back to their usual routines.
Carrot has been busy with his volunteer friends this month, doing lots of stroller walks. One of our stroller volunteers posted great pictures of Carrot on one of his strolls, and said this about him: “Best Head-Butter” Award goes to CARROT, as every ride this week required a stroller wipe-down from orange and white hair!” Carrot sure does love to get outside for walks with his friends, and they love to see him, too.
We miss our senior visits so much, and we know they miss the cats a lot, so we have started our pen pal program. A few of our volunteers write to the seniors and tell them all about the cats who used to visit them. They include photos and little stories, so the seniors can still feel connected to the cats who used to visit them. I’m sure Carrot and his feline friends really miss seeing the seniors, too, as they always got so many pets and love from all their senior friends.
Carrot has been in good health this month. As the only sponsorable kitty of Suite C, Carrot gets to share the news of his Suite. Bebe found her forever home and is just thrilled with her new circumstances. We are happy for Bebe. Indiana is new to the room and seems to keep to himself. He seems to be the only cat in the Suite that does not spend most of his time in the solarium. Wilbur is out and about more often of late and he enjoys the solarium as much as Carrot does. Archer is still also really enjoying solarium time these days. The solarium used to be the quiet place to be, just Carrot and his friends, but now it’s the popular place to be.
That’s all the Carrot news for now. As always, thank you all for everything you do for Carrot. He sends headbumps to you!
