Update for Carrot

Pondering his sweet life!

Greetings Carrot Fans!

Our boy had a good month! He did have one episode of reverse sneezing though. Thankfully, it was just one occurrence! Otherwise, Carrot has been in good health and spirits.

This month, Carrot enjoyed two very interesting things! The first one was our Paws to Read program. This is a program designed to help children with reading out loud. Since cats do not judge them on their reading abilities, it is the perfect platform for the children to be comfortable and practice their reading. Typically, we hold this activity every other Saturday at Tabby’s Place and we also bring a few kitties to local libraries for scheduled reading events.

Carrot loves when the children read to him!

Well, this month, we held a special Paws to Read event at Tabby’s Place to celebrate Read Across America Day, which happens to be celebrated on Dr. Seuss’s birthday.  Many children came to Tabby’s Place to read to the kitties. There was also an appearance by The Cat in The Hat. I did hear Carrot grumbling about “the big guy” getting too much attention, so some of Carrot’s favorite volunteers spent time with him that day. Carrot isn’t a diva by any means, but he really loves attention! He absolutely loved having the children read to him and now has a whole host of new admirers! I have no doubt that Carrot is looking forward to the next reading event.

Special appearance by the Cat in the Hat!

The second interesting thing that Carrot experienced this month is a first for a Tabby’s Place cat (if you could imagine that!). He wrote a Letter of Recommendation for one of his favorite volunteers to get into business school. Technically, we transcribed the letter for him but he knew what he wanted us to write.  This young man started volunteering at Tabby’s Place within the past month or two, and Carrot has really taken to him. Carrot praised his commitment, kindness, and responsibility. I believe lots of petting and a comfy lap were also mentioned.

To scratch or not to scratch—that is the question!

Speaking of a comfy lap, a fellow volunteer told me that he took a nap with Carrot last week. Apparently, Carrot climbed into his lap, curled up, and fell asleep. Since we all know that it is frowned upon to move a sleeping cat, this volunteer decided to nap with him. I’m pretty sure Carrot adores him even more now!

Thank you for sponsoring our sweet Carrot!
