Dear Carrot friends,
With most of our volunteers unable to come to Tabby’s Place due to COVID-19, there has only been a small group of us to do everything for the cats. While it has been exhausting, I must say I have really enjoyed spending more time with the cats.
When I clean Suite C and Solarium C Carrot always “helps” me. Wherever I go in his room he follow
s along, flops down nearby, rolls around, reaches out his paw, and generally looks adorable. How is anyone supposed to get any work done with such cuteness nearby!?
Carrot and friends are definitely enjoying the nice weather, and have been making the most of it. They are back to spending most of their time in the solarium, lounging in the sun and enjoying the warmth.
Carrot has not been able to visit the senior homes as part of the Aged to Purrfection program, and we have no idea when the visits will be able to start again. It’s a shame because it means so much to the seniors and the cats.
We have been taking a bunch of the cats for stroller walks around the Tabby’s Place property. At least then they get to go outside, smell the fresh air, and get some stimulation. During the walk, we take the cats to see Cherny’s Garden, where there are always butterflies and many flying insects to watch.
Carrot loves stroller rides, and it gives him something different to do, and lots of stimulation. His friends, Sparkly and Pancake are too shy to go on stroller walks. We thought his friend, Elijah would enjoy a stroller ride, but he wasn’t a fan of it and just wanted to go back to his room.
In the next few weeks, we are going to introduce a new program called Curbside Volunteering. Since most volunteers can’t come into Tabby’s Place, we are starting a program in which they will walk the cats in strollers outside. Then many more cats will get to go out each day because we will have more people helping with stroller walks.
No new medical news for Carrot this month, which we always like to hear. That’s all the Carrot news for now. As always, thank you all for your continued support of Carrot. These are certainly worrying times, and we appreciate your help so much.
Stay safe and healthy.
