Welcome to a new year.
We did it. We survived goodbyes, “good” and otherwise. We survived the election and the superstorm. We survived Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez’s breakup. We survived the Mayan apocalypse. We survived the demise of Twinkies.
2012 was a year of strength and survival. Now that the millennium is a teenager, it’s time for us – human and feline – to thrive. Elegantly. In the spirit of this bonne annee, I present you a few images that speak of making all things new.
Even if you don’t know what the heck Auld Lang Syne means (and, like me, you’re relieved when Times Square plays 4 seconds of it at midnight on January 1st, then unceremoniously transitions to Frank Sinatra for no apparent reason, every single year), you have every opening for a new beginning today. Feast on hope. Be made new. Welcome the miracles. The cats do – oh, they do.
Oh, and if you’re reading this on January 2nd or 16th or any old time: there’s no expiration date on making a new beginning. The cats are fully convinced that you can find a new and improved world any hour of any day. Knock and the door will be opened, seek and you shall find, ask and you shall receive. You and the cats and I were made for more than mere survival.
So my heart whispers to each of yours (and this includes you, Florence): this could be your year. This will be our year. Let yourself be loved. Receive the hope. Give it all the gloriousness you’ve got.
Buon anno, favored folks and felines.
Housekeeping notes: Look for an extra-ultra-cosmic-special guest post later this week. Regular programming returns to Felis Catus in the very near future.

Happy New Year to my Tabby’s Place family and friends! I sure hope 2013 will be as good for all of you as 2012 was for me!
The best is in store for 2013 – Happy New Year, all hoomans and fuzzies!
Cannot wait to see all the good that is bound to come in this lucky thirteen year!
