The great disalonement

The great disalonement

IMG_0638The cats remind us that we are not alone.

For every oddity and instance of ookiness, there’s a comrade in arms to share your strangeness.

You're not alone if you're older than winter.
You’re not alone if you’re older than winter…

You’re not alone if you sleep in the litter box.

You’re not alone if you like your wet food best after it’s been allowed to sit out eight hours and crustulate.

You’re not alone if you can’t eat alone.

You’re not alone if you can only eat alone.

You’re not alone if you love Walmart.

You’re not alone if you’re afraid of Santa Claus.

You’re not alone if you try too hard, laugh too hard, love too hard.

...not alone if you look like Wilford Brimley...
…not alone if you look like Wilford Brimley…

You’re not alone if you eat too much strufuli.

You’re not alone if you don’t know what strufuli is.

You’re not alone if your feelings are hurt that your favorite Christmas sweater is now considered an “ugly Christmas sweater.”

You’re not alone if you sing too lustily, then dangle in awkward silence and loud stares.

You’re not alone if you sing so quietly you think no one hears you.

...not alone if you move in your own way...
…not alone if you move in your own way…

You’re not alone when you can see your breath but not the stars.

You’re not alone when you can hear the jingle bells but not the music.

You’re not alone when you think you are the only one left who cares a single blessed iota.

You…are…not…alone.

If this season is about anything, it’s about a rescue mission to disalone us.

...not alone if you've been waiting a very long time for the desires of your heart.
…not alone if you’ve been waiting a very long time for the desires of your heart.

We have not been forgotten.

We have not been left behind.

We are in this thing together, and the end isn’t the end.

The One who loves us came, and He’s for us, and He’s coming back to win the war.

And, oh my stars, He loves His cats.

We are, none of us, alone.

  1. He loves His cats… and so do I! My cats, here and long since crossed over the rainbow bridge, Tabby’s Place cats from the uber-friendly Felixes to the don’t-touch-me-Deannas!
