Quick. Tell me what you were scared of on April 29, 2021. Maybe you were afraid that the pestilence would pounce upon you. Maybe you were afraid that the cat you’d just trundled to the vet would not forgive you. Maybe you were afraid that Ozark would never return for a fourth season.
Sometimes I think we need to get back in the habit of declaring each other anathema. Cats never ditched this habit in the first place. As a matter of fact, they raised it to an art form.
I suppose we were asking too much of you, 2021. We demanded that you atone for the sins of your predecessor. We commanded that you carry all of our hopes. We thought, at least, that you could be good-weird rather than civilization-tottering-weird.
