Hobokeh

snugglingYour eyes do not deceive you. Nor did I type this after my 7th cosmopolitan.

This is all about the bokeh of a certain North Jersey city.

What the hokeh is bokeh, you ask? In the bland flat boring technical sense, it’s a photographic technique for rendering out-of-focus points of light.

In the more important sense, it’s a magical blurfest of sparklitude. (Created, admittedly, by a photographic technique for rendering out-of-focus points of light.) I bring you bokeh:

Little did we at Tabby’s Place know that something was broken in the great town of Hoboken. All the hobos and ‘bokenites may have felt okay, but deep down I think they all knew that something was missing. It was the bokeh. The bokeh has a name, and it is…Willie. Do you remember little Willie? This shy, sable boy wouldn’t go home…until he found the home of his heart just over a year ago.

Willie casa forever
Willie casa forever

Before my metaphors get any more macerated, I’m going to let Willie’s own AwesomeAdopter do the talking:

“I adopted Willie from Tabby’s Place a little over a year ago, and I wanted to let you know that he is doing great!

“In September, my boyfriend and I moved to Hoboken, NJ. Roo and Willie have settled in quite well to our new home. I thought of you and Tabby’s Place over the weekend because I was watching a movie lying on the couch, and Willie came up, lay down and fell asleep on my belly. I couldn’t believe how relaxed he was. He has sure come a long way since we first brought him home a year ago.

Roo and Willie forever
Roo and Willie forever

“It has been wonderful watching him and Roo together as well. They love playing together and Willie loves snuggling up next to Roo.

“I’ve attached a few photos of Willie and Roo from the past few weeks!”

This is Willie, women and men of the blogiverse. Willie of “don’t-make-eye-contact-or-I-will-implode” fame. Willie of “are You there, God? It’s me, Willie…please make me invisible” status. Willie who never did anything Big Willie Style at Tabby’s Place. Willie whose adoption rocked the universe. (“Willie? Who adopted Willie? How did they even see Willie to adopt him?”) Yes, this is Willie…the cat with the big-enough soul to adore his skittish Special Needs sister, Roo, with all the love a cat can give.couchcats

This is Willie in 2012, king of Hoboken hearts. And with that, Hoboken is luminous, whole, and truly worthy of the name Hobokeh. Willie and Roo’s love is enough to bathe the whole metropolis in soft light. MamaWillieRoo, God bless you for loving the heart of Hobokeh so well.
