Happy August, friends!
Adam is off to a great start to the month and hopes that you are enjoying these last days of summer as well.
Since Adam is summer’s number one fan, he is delighting in the warm, sunny weather. His health has remained quite stable this month, although we always keep a close eye on him since he can be quite fragile. Adam has been in the solarium the entire summer. I haven’t seen him inside even once since June. He loves to sleep on the shelves in the solarium and is joined by almost the whole suite!
I had the pleasure of cleaning Suite A this month. I don’t usually do a lot of suite cleaning these days, but in the summer when I am off from school, I occasionally come in and help when people are on vacation. I was pleasantly surprised when I got the assignment to clean Suite A. In the past, cleaning Adam’s suite was not a pleasant job. A room occupied by cats who are incontinent and have intestinal issues can often be quite a mess to tidy. I walked into the room ready to do battle.
I was surprised that there were almost no wet food bowls around the room and that the floor was unexpectedly clean. Now, there was still a fair amount of cleaning to do, but not what I had been expecting. Part of this is due to the cats’ diets being very helpful to their stomach problems so they are leaking less. The other reason it was so easy to clean the room became apparent as soon as I went into the solarium.
Out in the solarium, I found all of the wet food dishes! That was because all of the cats were in the solarium. Boom, Mary, Hailey, Cindy and Angelo were all inside sleeping, but the whole rest of the crew were out. Adam, Abe, Steven, Alice, Pepita, Chewy and Rorschach were all outside, enjoying sloppy wet food and scattering litter all over the floor. I learned an important lesson that day. A room with a few sleeping cats is easy to clean. A solarium that contains many active cats is more of a challenge! Suite A never fails to keep me on my toes!
Adam has been enjoying a steady stream of summer visitors and never fails to give each and every one of them some love. There was a cute little girl taking a tour the other day and spent the whole tour searching for a cat that looked like hers. She has a brown tabby with a white bib and feet. She kept finding cats that met that description but was disappointed each time because the cat was a girl. She was thrilled when she met Adam because not only did he look like her cat, he was also a boy like hers. Mission accomplished. Adam seemed very proud to be able to fill the proper role for her.
Adam and I wish you a very happy end to your summer. He will be soaking in the summer sun for as long as possible. Thank you so much for your generosity to Tabby’s Place. You are very appreciated and loved, especially by a small brown tabby boy!
