Imagine that you’re a restaurant owner. It’s the dead of winter, and one morning you get a call from one of your employees, asking if you know about the cat. Um, what cat? It turns out that your employee has found a cat in your restaurant’s basement. It doesn’t matter how kind a heart you have. In the United States, a cat living in a restaurant’s basement just won’t fly, so to speak. Especially since this cat is clearly scared to death.
After a call to the local Animal Control unit, an officer came to take the cat. Luckily for that frightened feline, that officer happened to know Tabby’s Place and sent the little fellow over to us.
Chewie, as he’s become known, is a handsome boy, but he is still quite frightened of people. It’s likely that he went into the restaurant out of desperation, not because he was looking to snuggle. He’s not a mean boy, he just needs a good bit of reassurance that we mean no harm. We know that there’s a friendly boy within Chewie. Our volunteers have been working diligently to socialize him in our Befriending Fearful Felines program. We’re hopeful that with time Chewie will come to love and trust us.
If you are interested in adopting this wonderful shy boy and helping him begin to trust people, come visit him any day during our public hours. Please see our Visit Us page for updated information.
