Update for Adam

Happy May, friends!

Adam and I hope you are enjoying these beautiful days of spring.  The birds are back, the flowers and blooming and all is right with the world.

Springtime finds our little tabby feeling more relaxed.  He can be found in the solarium on every sunny day, and it seems the warmer weather is good for his health.  Adam’s weight has stabilized, and our staff notes that he’s been more exuberant and interactive again.  This is delightful news.  I’m glad that the staff is noting that Adam is more energetic now that the sun is out.  Again, Adam has been mostly sleeping on the days that I’ve visited with him.  At least now, he is sleeping in the solarium, recharging his batteries.

Adam did have some visitors recently, and while Steven, Abe, and Jimmy were demanding all the attention, the lovely couple did try and engage with Adam for a bit. He allowed them to pet him while he basked in a sun ray.  He didn’t get up and do his usual Adam nibble-and-climb routine, but he did wake up and acknowledge their presence.  I was very pleased to see this.

Adam seems to have found a special shelf out in the solarium on which he loves to spend all his time.  I have no idea why he has chosen this shelf in particular, but it seems to afford him the best view of the garden and the bird feeder.  It is a low shelf on the set of shelves that were built as an all-weather climber for the cats.  All the better for napping without disruptions!

Since I mentioned the garden, I should probably tell you a little bit about Cherny’s Garden.  It is a beautiful garden, and every year the staff and volunteers get together to hold a memorial service for all of the cats who have passed away at Tabby’s Place that year.  We all stand around the garden while the cats’ names are read and each cat is spoken of, and we float flower petals into the garden in memory of our special friends.  A little bit of each cat’s ashes is then spread in the garden.

The cats at Tabby’s Place are so loved, and we become their family if they are not adopted into their own families.  I love this tradition of expressing our final goodbyes to such special family members every year.  It is comforting and kind, and it makes me love Tabby’s Place all the more.

Adam and I thank you for all that you do to support him and Tabby’s Place.  Special people like you make this extraordinary place possible.  Tabby’s Place is about to expand as well!  Please check out our website to see the exciting news about Quinn’s Corner.

Have a wonderful few weeks, and Adam and I will be back with an update in June.
