Gratitudus maximus

Gratitudus maximus

floI’ve always thought Thanksgiving is the purest holiday.

The cats agree. Our reasons differ.

This is Jack. Above is Florence. Thanksgiving is all the excuse I need to post random pictures of Tabby's Place kittens. You're welcome.

It seems to me there’s no more honest, simple, deep-down-true reason to celebrate than to simply say thank you. If we overflow with gratitude at least one day a year, that’s a very good start.

It seems to the cats that if we overflow with food one day a year, that’s a very sad excuse for missing the other 364 days. But, it’s a start.

We’ll all be too busy feasting and thanking God for our own beasts and people today to spend much time in the blogiverse, so I’ll keep this short.

I thank God every time I remember you – which is constantly. Without you, there is no Tabby’s Place. Without you, we cats and humans would be in this alone.

Florence grooms Jack. This qualifies as a bona fide Thanksgiving miracle, as Florence's best skill is Annihilating Kittens Who Are Not Florence.

But we never walk alone.

The cats thank you for letting them be themselves, again and again and again. (They also thank you in advance for bringing them all your giblets. All your giblets. Leave no giblet behind, or face the wrath of Jackie.)

Even in the bittersweet days – days of hurricanes or unspeakable losses – the purest holiday may be our best medicine. May we take the cats’ advice and carry Thanksgiving forward for the next 364 days. (Just not the leftovers, unless you are really desperate to see your old buddy Sal Monella.)

May we trade fear for gratitude, panic for prayer. Cats don’t have time for anxiety. Neither, if we’re honest, do we.

Now go forth and be grateful…and know that you are the reason for unparalleled, anxiety-busting, bliss-boosting gratitude at Tabby’s Place.

  1. A wish for a perfect (purrfect) holiday to all – blessings in abundance (along with the food…and of course, the cats) and THANKS to everyone who loves Tabby’s Place and makes this miracle happen each and every day.

  2. We are so grateful for the Tabby’s Place community — cats and humans. And we are thankful for the incredibly awesome Angela who works magic with her words to express all of our gratitude! Have an amazing Thanksgiving, Angela.

  3. You had me laughing Angela when you describe Florence’s skill. The first time I met her, that’s what she was doing – pouncing on everyone else in her room, even the big guys!

One of the things I am grateful for today is that Tabby’s Place exists and is staffed by such wonderful, compassionate people (including you!). It is an honor to be one of the TP volunteers.

Happy Thanksgiving to All (4 paws or 2 feet)!

  4. Happy Thanksgiving to all my friends and family at Tabby’s Place (both kitties and human beans!). And…an extra special Thank You and kitty kisses to Uncle Jon and Auntie Sharon for making their dream of Tabby’s Place a reality!!

    Love,
Bialy ( and Joe too! )

  5. Turkey for all (‘specially the kitties!) and best wishes for an awesome Thanksgiving to the kitties and people at Tabby’s Place, and all those who supports them.
