Development Dunderhead’s note: if ever you wonder about Simba‘s shimmering, spectacular mother Tara, prepare for your wonderings to turn into wonderfuls. Our beloved volunteer and Simba-scribe is, despite our protests, still in Colorado. But she’s also still here…as we always say, “once a Tabby’s Place cat, always a Tabby’s Place cat.” But don’t take it […]
They say you can’t go home again, and mostly that’s true. You can visit the place where you grew up, but your house will seem smaller somehow, and there will be a new shopping center where the roller rink used to be, and everything is familiar but just a few inches to the left of […]
Angela intrudes: I do not want to post Tara’s post. That’s not because it’s anything short of magnificent (as you’ll see: have tissues ready). It all too magnificently tells a tale I selfishly want to turn untrue: Tara is leaving Tabby’s Place, and the whole time zone, and our delighted day-to-day lives. I am in […]
Has it really been five whole months since I last regaled you with tales of my personal lion king, Simba? Time certainly flies.

It’s the time of year when we all want to believe in magic. We want to believe in Santa, and in snow that doesn’t cause traffic jams, and in finding a parking space within a mile of the mall. We want to believe in peace and love and goodwill, and tidings of comfort and joy. […]
How did a whole month go by? It’s a testament to Development Director Angela’s patience that she keeps letting me write here, given how often I tell her that “A Simba update is coming!”, only to lose it in my scattered brain. All I can say is that time flies when you’re herding cats.
Have you ever wished you spoke Cat? I have for a long time, but never so much as lately.
Cats are like a box of chocolates: sometimes filled with delicious surprises, sometimes an inexplicable mix of not-quite-pleasant flavors, but always worth the risk. Right now, my house is a somewhat confusing mix of flavors, because I took a big risk.
