Unlike human beans, cats are blissfully anxiety-free when it comes to “body image” issues. Every one, of every shape, size and quirk, is beautiful, and every one knows it. It’s one of the numberless reasons I admire them. Yet amidst all the beautiful cats we get to love, every so often one stands out as […]
It was a Thanksgiving miracle worthy of the heartiest “Aarrr!” Mrs. AwesomeAdopter came in for one very marvelous Special Needs boy…and wound up scoring his swashbuckling best buddy, too. So it is that Midnight and Pirate have found a forever home – together.
Every so often a profound bond grows between a person and a Tabby’s Place cat. Volunteer Joyce and gentle Albert were the epitome of such a bond. As his Special Needs correspondent and his cherished friend, Joyce was a sweet constant in Albert’s life. Albert left this world last week. We thought it only right […]
Yeah. I’m dancing. It’s a happy dance. Happy, yeah. That’s what I’m supposed to say, right? Cats getting adopted = good thing. So, um, I’m sorry about my tears all over this blog entry.
Welcome to Tabby’s Place, may I take your order? You’re looking for Angelina? Sorry, no can do. Angelina’s not at this pizzeria anymore. She’s moved on to La Trattoria di Forever Home.
We’ve already established that you don’t mess with Tex. Apparently, you don’t make him wait very long for an adopter, either. It hasn’t even been a month since Tex moseyed into a Tabby’s Place suite, and he’s already the king of his own ranch, er, forever home.
I’m of the strong belief that God is good, all the time. There are few places I’ve been as frequently or as powerfully reminded of this as among the cats of Tabby’s Place. Their unconditional love is a living, purring parable. The quiet, undeniable rhythm of mercy to them and through them is charged with […]
Twenty years is a long life for a feline. But that doesn’t mean that twenty years feels like enough, or that “goodbye” at the end of twenty years feels anything like okay. So it is with sorrow and surprise that we bid farewell to one of Tabby’s Place’s beloved elder statescats, the extraordinary Nickey.
Occasionally, a well-meaning person-who-hasn’t-really-known-a-cat will ask, “do cats really notice when somebody dies?” I am convinced that cats mourn as deeply, and in nearly as many different ways, as we do. Some bounce back from change and loss fairly quickly, while others react in quiet ways we can recognize if we only pay attention. But, […]
You know how it goes. You’ve spent hours working on a 5,000-piece picture puzzle, painstakingly matching up colors and patterns and shapes until a beautiful portrait comes together. About 4,950 pieces in, you’re on a roll and know it’s a shoo-in that you’ll finish it now. But just as you’re ready to pop in that […]
