Kitty LeFey’s Cosmos: Wobbly in the Lobby

Kitty LeFey’s Cosmos: Wobbly in the Lobby

What is black as midnight, falls over with eagerness, and peeps conversationally with people and felines alike? Why, it’s none other than Doury! He is a recent addition to the Tabby’s Place family, and he is already loved unconditionally because he is a cat, and possibly because of (definitely not despite of) his condition. Condition? Doury (Door-ee) is the latest in a short conga line of Tabby’s Place cats (ADOPTED!!!) to have been diagnosed with cerebellar hypoplasia.

It is always amusing to be able to call yet another cat “Wobbles.” None of them seem to have minded the nickname, and Doury doesn’t seem to mind much of anything except for not getting enough attention. In fact, Doury is a bit overzealous in his literal grabs for attention. Efforts are being made to provide lessons in good manners to this energetic 1 year old. Remembering that “Patience is a virtue,” and “All shall be well,” is helpful in teaching this toddling teenager matters of etiquette.

The little black face, wide eyes, and medium length floofy fur all tally up to persons totally not minding the effort needed to guide this sweet, charming little guy toward adulthood. Clearly, socializing Doury is not an issue. He is so social, in fact, that he should probably be given his very own set of butterfly wings (and maybe a podcast). No fear that he would fly off. Off might be away from people, and that is not where Doury would prefer to be.

Given his charming personality and chatty gregariousness, Doury was designed to be a lobby denizen. With the high number of staff, volunteers, and visitors that Doury will be able to meet and greet, there is no doubt that he’ll learn the lessons of best behavior quickly and thoroughly. More importantly, from his perspective, there are higher than average opportunities for playtime and fish mush and treats.

We haven’t yet explained to Doury that the lobby is a no-treat zone (due to the weighty situation of some of his fellow lobby-ers).
Please don’t tell.
Maybe he won’t notice.

We don’t yet know Doury’s full story, as it is still unfolding. He came to Ringoes, NJ as one of a lucky number. 14 cats were flown in on angel’s wings and landed at the sanctum sanctorum that is Tabby’s Place. With such an auspicious start, is it wrong to hope for a most amazing end to a very short stay at Tabby’s Place? Adoption is that ultimate hope. Forever is the story of true love. Doury deserves both and would provide nothing less to a family of his own.

Until a more bestest best situation than even being a Tabby’s Place cat presents itself, Doury will happily remain in the lobby. He will be adored simply for being his fuzzy little wobbly self. And, he won’t be alone. We all get a little wobbly in the lobby. It comes from being overwhelmed with all the affection that flows to and from the cats and throughout the entire Tabby’s Place community. We are lucky and delighted to count Doury among that very large number.
