Update for Mary

Can you believe it is August already?

My dear sponsors and best friends in the whole wide world… this summer is flying by, despite the fact that humans are still for the most part living what we kitties call “the COVID life.”

Here at Tabby’s Place, we continue to persist and exist with only a few humans doing the jobs of many humans. Our skeleton crew of staff and volunteers continue to do everything they can to keep our lives as normal as possible. I promise you that we still receive all the love and care that we rely on, and it is all thanks to your generosity!

My human friends have told me story after story about how the two-leggeds are suffering all over the world. The COVID pandemic has affected everyone and everything, and I know that countless people are struggling financially and otherwise. Which is why I am even more grateful than ever (if that is even possible!) for everything you do for me. I know that help is needed in every corner of the globe right now, and I cannot thank you enough for continuing to sponsor me amongst the COVID chaos.

Aside from feeling a bit lonely for my human friends who I haven’t seen in awhile, this month has been a good one here in Suite A. I continue to split my time between enjoying the warmth of the bright summer sunshine in the solarium and snuggling with my feline besties in a cool dark cubby inside.

Just the other day, a fellow volunteer told my correspondent that she keeps finding me up in the corner near the top of the ramp that leads to our solarium. For whatever reason, that little cozy spot has been calling to me lately.

My correspondent and I decided to include a few pictures of me hanging out up there in this month’s update. When these pictures were taken, you’ll see that my buddy Chewbacca was attempting to sneak carefully around me so he could go through the tube out into our solarium.

He cracks me up sometimes. I think he was worried that our human friend photographing us would actually try to pet him (even though she knows him well enough to give him his space). I have tried so many times to convince him that he can trust the humans here at Tabby’s Place, but he is still quite skittish… poor guy.

Snuggling with humans is the BEST and he is missing out! Humans (such as our photographer here) also feed us treats.  YUM!  Someday he will realize that I am right.

I was so sleepy the day these pictures were taken, but I managed to wake up long enough to eat my treats of course! Then I fell right back to blissful sleep. I dreamt about the day that all of my volunteer friends can come back to visit me… that glorious day when we can stop living the COVID life. That day will come, my friends! It may still be a ways off, but let’s stay hopeful!

For now, I want you to know that my daily butt baths continue to keep me as tidy and comfy as possible. And I even made a new friend this month. Her name is Roxy, and she is a beautiful long-haired tortie. If you’d like to find out more about her, our very own staffer Angela (Development Director and Superheroine here at Tabby’s Place) wrote a brilliant blog entry about Roxy recently that you can read here.

If you enjoy the story and you’re new to our spectacular blog, there are plenty more tales (tails?) where that came from! Angela has been writing a blog for Tabby’s Place for many years, and you will find that she is profoundly talented at documenting all of our feline adventures. Explore our blog here.  Happy reading!

As always, please remember that I am sending you millions upon billions of furry grey hugs. I love you with every bit of my furry feline heart!

Until next month, be kind to one another.

Love,
Mary
