Update for Carrot

Dear Carrot Friends,

Carrot had a fairly peaceful month. He has enjoyed his usual activities, such as stroller walks with his volunteer friends, and hanging out in his solarium with his pals.

One of our volunteers told me she loves taking Carrot for a stroller ride because he always enjoys it so very much. She said he is always very aware of everything going on around him—he seems to notice everything, especially the butterflies around Cherny’s Garden.

Carrot & Joshua

Our construction for the expansion of Quinn’s Corner has started, and every day we have the large machinery digging and moving things around at the side of Tabby’s Place. We thought it might bother the cats who take stroller walks, but it doesn’t seem to bother them at all.  They still want to take their daily walks outside.  The construction doesn’t seem to bother the cats who like to hang out in the solariums either, they are all still out there.

Carrot and Joshua are still enjoying their friendship and were even eating out of the same bowl the other day when I went to visit them. They are often seen hanging out together, grooming each other, wrestling, or just curled up together to enjoy a nap. I love it when the cats form friendships—it’s so nice when they have a friend. As you can see from the pictures, Carrot and Joshua have such a sweet friendship. Wilbur is also doing great since Joshua insisted that Wilbur would be his friend. I don’t think Wilbur has ever had a friend before!

Carrot has a few new cats who have joined his room. Hector, who is sweet and a little shy. Stevie, who does not get along with all cats, but has formed a very sweet friendship with Hector. And Lemon, who is young, sweet, and a little crazy. All 3 new cats seem to have settled in well, and are not causing any trouble in the room.

In medical news, Carrot had his calcium levels rechecked again and he seems to be responding well to the weekly medication as his results were within normal limits once again. He will be rechecked again in 3 months. Our Carrot is a happy and healthy boy again.

We are in the process of trying to re-boot our Aged to Purrfection program, so the cats can go and visit the senior homes once again. We just have to make sure everyone will be safe and healthy, both cats and humans. We were able to find out all the residents in the homes are fully vaccinated, and so are our volunteers who will take the cats on their visits, so things seem to be moving in the right direction for our return. It means so much to the seniors to see the cats, and the cats enjoy it so much. Hopefully, we can get that started again very soon. I know Carrot will be at the front of the line once the visits start again. He hasn’t seen his senior friends in so long now, and they all miss him, and his friends who visit.

That’s all the Carrot news for now. As always, thank you so much for your support of Carrot. We couldn’t have such a happy, healthy boy without you.
