Dear Carrot Friends,
Carrot has had another good month. In true Carrot style, there was some playing, lots of eating, some sleeping, and lots and lots of pets and love.
It’s been pretty cold this week, but Carrot has still been spending some time in his solarium. I have seen him a few times inside the suite for a while, but then he goes right back outside. Only the die-hards are out there at the moment, which is mostly Carrot and Wilbur. Pancake will venture out for a while, but even she has been inside a lot lately.
Big news from Carrot’s room: Sparkly was adopted! After being with us for a few years, and being very shy with humans, we didn’t know if she would find her own home. She just needed the right person to see how wonderful she really is, and that’s what happened. I am very happy for Sparkly and hope she enjoys having her own home and her own person. I felt a little sad for Carrot, losing one of his good friends, but he seems fine, and he still has Pancake and Elijah to hang out with.
Carrot went on quite a few stroller walks this month, and he loves every minute of his stroller walks. The volunteers always enjoy taking Carrot out because he has such a good time. He loves to watch the birds at the bird feeders, and he has been enjoying watching the leaves fall. And I think he likes the change of scenery and the company of our wonderful volunteers. I often hear the volunteers talking to the cats as they take them around in the strollers, and it makes me smile every time. With very cold weather approaching fast, we don’t know how much longer we will be able to continue doing the stroller walks. Hopefully, the weather will stay mild as long as possible this year, so the cats can have their walks.
Every single time I go into Carrot’s room he thinks I’m there for one thing—to give him treats. He runs over and looks all expectant, checking my hands to see if I am carrying anything. If it isn’t treat time he will happily accept pets and snuggles instead, but first, his mind is always going to think the treats are coming.
The other day I was walking through the lobby and I looked into Suite C. One of our volunteers was sitting on the floor with Carrot on her lap, petting him. Carrot looked very content and happy. About a half-hour later, as I was going through the lobby again, the same volunteer was still on the floor, and Carrot was still in her lap. I think he would have kept her there all day if he could. Everyone loves Carrot, so he gets lots of attention. He’s very easy to love.
Carrot has enjoyed good health this month, and I have no medical news to report. Carrot is a happy, healthy boy.
That’s all the Carrot news for now. As always, thank you so much for your support of Carrot. It means so much to Carrot and to us humans taking care of him. Carrot would like to wish everyone happy holidays and a safe 2021.
