Dear Carrot friends,
We recently brought back a very small amount of our volunteers, which is making Carrot and his friends very happy. Due to our safety protocols, we can only have a few volunteers each day (and everyone wears masks, of course), but the cats are still very happy to see them. The volunteers are giving the cats a lot of interaction, pets, toys, treats, and love, which is what a lot of the cats have needed.
The staff did their best to give everyone attention, of course, but with such a small amount of staff here to do everything, it was very hard. I think the staff is as happy as the cats to have some help. It has removed a lot of our stress and it’s great to know the cats are getting the attention they crave.
We also launched a new program this month called Curbside Volunteering. In this program, volunteers arrive (one at a time) outside, at a scheduled time slot. We bring them a cat in a stroller, and they take the cat for a walk around the property here at Tabby’s Place (outside only), park their stroller in Cherney’s Garden, and let the kitty sniff the flowers and watch the butterflies. Of course, not all cats enjoy this, but the ones that do like stroller rides absolutely love this new program. It gets them outside, gets them attention, and gives them lots of stimulation.
Carrot is one of our stroller ride cats, and he loves being part of Curbside Volunteering. Carrot has really enjoyed his stroller walks, and particularly enjoys hanging out in Cherny’s Garden, which is home to many butterflies and all sorts of flying things to watch. Our volunteers also really enjoy this program, it keeps them involved with Tabby’s Place, let’s them see the cats they love so much, and they get some exercise walking the cats around the property.
Carrot went for a stroller ride today, and when I went outside to bring him back into the building, he was rolling around in the stroller, sniffing the air, and looking very happy indeed.
Carrot is still crazy for treats. I took the treat bag into his solarium today, and I could barely get in the door before he was at my feet, rolling and begging for the treats to be put down for him immediately. His friends in the solarium (Sparkly, Pancake and Elijah) do the exact same thing with treats now, too. I think they are following Carrot’s example on how to get treats right away.
Now that the weather is always warm, I haven’t seen Carrot in the suite at all. He is always in his solarium with his best friends. Even when it’s way too warm for me, they are still out there, enjoying the sun and warm.
Carrot has enjoyed good health this month, which we are always happy to report. He is a healthy and happy boy.
That’s all the Carrot news for this month. As always, thank you all for your continued support of Carrot. We couldn’t do this without you. Carrot needs donors just to keep up with his treat habit!

Karina
