Update for Carrot

Dear Carrot friends,

Things are certainly quiet around here amidst the scare of Covid-19. We are taking every precaution to keep everyone safe, but unfortunately, that means we temporarily closed our door to the public, and have gone down to a skeleton crew of staff and volunteers. The usual crazy hub-bub of Tabby’s Place is strangely quiet now. We are trying our best to keep the cats happy, clean, fed and entertained during this time. I just went into Carrot’s room with a treat bag, and that seemed to wake them all up! Carrot was at the front of the line, of course. Nothing cheers up a room of cats more than the treat bag, and Carrot is especially fond of the beloved treat bag.

We have also temporarily stopped all our Aged to Purrfection visits. It’s just too risky at the moment, even though it breaks our hearts to have to skip the senior home visits. Hopefully, we can get back there soon.

We have a camera set up overnight in Suite C to monitor Wilbur’s behavior. He is allowed out of a cage overnight now, so we want to make sure he isn’t starting fights with anyone. We caught Carrot playing in the large tunnel. You’ll need to look carefully as Carrot runs lightning-quick into one spoke of the tunnel and out another spoke: Carrot at Play. There was also footage of him playing nicely with Wilbur, which is truly amazing! You never know what’s goes on here once we have gone home.

The nice, mild weather has let a lot of the cats enjoy some solarium time, including Carrot, Sparkly and Pancake. They sure do love being outside on a nice day.  I think Carrot has taught Sparkly and Pancake how to beg for treats. They never used to run up to me when I had a treat bag, but they sure do now. They watch Carrot a lot, and usually follow whatever he does. He’s the only confident one of the trio, so they look to him for support and comfort.

Carrot is still running away from me when it’s time to express his bladder. I have no idea why because once I catch him he really doesn’t mind being expressed. I think it’s a game to him… catch me if you can. It’s a good way for Carrot to get attention, and he knows we have to chase him at that point, so it’s a great game.

Carrot has enjoyed good health this month, which is always great news. I just hope he doesn’t get too bored without visiting his senior friends for Aged to Purrfection. I’m sure we will keep him entertained somehow.

Let’s all hope everything settles down soon with the Coronavirus, and things can go back to normal for everyone, and the cats. Carrot would like to wish you all good health and reminds everyone to wash your hands often and avoid touching your face.

Thank you all for your continued support of our Carrot. Stay safe and healthy.

Karina
