Happy October, Friends!
Adam and I hope this lovely fall month finds you happy and healthy. We are both doing quite well and enjoying the beginning of the crisp, autumn weather.
Adam has had an uneventful month since your last update. His health has been good and he is enjoying life. He splits his time between the cubbies in the suite and his beloved solarium. Inside or out, he generally doesn’t complain about things and enjoys hanging out with all of his friends. The only complaining you hear from Adam happens when you go to express him, clean him, or medicate him. He is not fond of these events, so he always has an opinion to share. He’s always been very easy to medicate, however, because he opens his mouth so wide in protest so you can pop those meds right in!
Adam is still loving life in Suite A. The dynamics of the suite haven’t changed too much over the last few months. The addition of Cindy and Alice, two very vocal and social girls, has put a little bit of a crimp in Adam’s style. He always liked being the center of attention in the solarium when visitors came by. Now Cindy demands the attention of visitors and Adam has to take a back seat to her crazy ways!
After spending so many years trying to help Adam overcome the bad habits he learned being raised as an only, bottle-baby kitten, I am proud to report that he finally thinks of himself as a cat. He seems to understand his place in the feline world. I am so happy for him. It took a long time, but seeing him so confident and happy was worth all the years of working on his quirky behaviors.
I am currently fostering a seven-week-old kitten and I am working hard with him to not let him learn the bad habits that Adam learned when he was raised as an only kitten. It’s really hard to make sure that an only kitten gets the socialization he needs while he has no other cats or kittens to teach him. I’m actually typing this right now with a bit of help from some little paws!
Adam and I thank you for all that you do for Tabby’s Place. Without wonderful people like you, we wouldn’t be able to save cats like Adam or the little guy that I am fostering. It’s such an important mission and Adam and I so thrilled to have you along for the journey. Enjoy your October friends!
