Special Update for Simon

Dear Supporters of Simon,

Who can resist that face?

Every correspondent both dreams of and yet dreads the day when they get the call. Well, it’s not exactly a call. It’s actually an email from the staff at Tabby’s Place announcing the wonderful news: the cat they’ve been writing for every month—bonding with, visiting every time they’re at Tabby’s Place, petting, taking photos of, and secretly wishing they could somehow bring home—has been adopted!

That email arrived in my inbox, and in a flash I knew: as wonderful as Tabby’s Place is, Simon now had his chance at a forever home. That meant he would be pampered and spoiled and fawned over for the rest of his life.

I felt sad for myself, yet so very happy for the beautiful little boy who I spent time with every Monday. It was easy to imagine that all the love that I lavished on my own three cats at home would be equally lavished on Simon by his new owner. He would now be part of his own family. How wonderful is that?

I began writing for Simon in June of last year, during the pandemic. I didn’t actually meet him until September, when I finally got to hear his sweet purr for the first time. Over these past few months I’ve learned a lot about him:

  • Simon used to live in a home with Hobo, his “brother,” another sweetie who lives at Tabby’s Place. (More on him in a moment…)
Hobo, Simon’s brother from another mother
  • Simon and Shifty became best buddies in the Lounge.
  • Simon likes quiet hideaways in the Lounge, sometimes under the sofa, or sometimes under the cat tree.
  • Simon has a wonderful presence in front of a camera that I call “star potential.”

Simon is a challenge to photograph, though, because he is always in motion, moving toward you, wanting to be near you as you struggle to get him in focus.

But the most important thing I learned about Simon is that he has a big heart. He is curious and friendly. He likes people and other cats. He has a lot of love to give.

I know that Simon will do well with his new family. They will appreciate his sense of humor and zest for life. And when he jumps into their laps, they will know they made the right decision. For it’s always all about the love you give, and the love you receive in return.

Simon and I thank you. Your continued generosity made this happy ending possible.

Simon, waiting, for his new family.

Your correspondent,
Kate

Since Simon has found a home to call his own, your sponsorship has been transferred to another Special Needs cat: Simon’s former housemate, Hobo. While Hobo isn’t diabetic, he has his own host of special medical issues. He is one of our lucky Lobby residents.

If you’d prefer to choose a different cat to sponsor, you can meet them all here. Please feel free to email us if you’d like to transfer your support to a different kitty. (Otherwise, going forward you will receive updates on Hobo each month.)

Thank you again for your kindness and generosity to Simon. You’ve helped to make this marvelous news possible for him, and we’re so grateful!
