Predictions and Resolutions

Our beautiful Cassandra predicts that none of us will keep our New Year’s resolutions. The wee cat of mythic proportions (yes, I’m exaggerating) will surely live up to her mythological name. You see, Cassandra bears the curse of foresight without the benefit of being believed.

We have just crossed the threshold of the new year. We are full of gusto and vigor. The fires of January have sprung to light in a blaze of glory. We will resolve! We will keep our resolve steady! We will keep our resolutions!

Won’t we?

If all of our resolutions have to do with Tabby’s Place, then, yes, we will keep them all. We will prove Cassandra’s predictions to be mistaken. Nothing would make Cassandra happier…well, nothing except squeeze treats and fish mush, oh, and that particularly fluffy blanket that is still warm from the dryer.

Nothing is likely to make any of us happier than keeping Cassandra happy will. No amount of exercising, work-life balancing, or meal planning can equal the joys of caring for cats. Cassandra knows this. We know this.

We also know that we have the whole year to look forward to. We have plans to make, plans to break, plans to keep. More importantly, we have cats to pet, cats to feed, cat poop to clean up – there’s always poop to clean up – and each other to lean on as we start the cycle all over again.

Cassandra foretells that we have embarked on a year like no other at Tabby’s Place. I, for one, do believe her. No two years at the Place of All Places have ever been alike. No two cats – not even from the same mama with the same diagnoses – at Tabby’s Place have ever been alike. We relish the wonderful surprises. We rise up to meet the challenges. We see and are seen, and Cassandra sees us all.

Through her eyes, it is clear that 2026 will be the best of all possible years. Matches will be matched like never before, in terms of adoptions as well as donations. New loves will be found, and new bonds will be forged. And, as always, we – the cats and people of the Tabby’s Place family – will show up for it all with resolve.

Happy New Year!
