Kitty LeFey’s Cosmos: In the Nick of Time

Kitty LeFey’s Cosmos: In the Nick of Time

A young, grey and cream stripey cat arrived in Ringoes, NJ just in the nick of time. Soon after, the ophthalmologist showed up just in the nick of time. The cat’s eye was surveyed, diagnosed, and treated just in the nick of time. There may be some hyperbole here, due to lack of complete facts (no questions were posed, for the record) and a propendency for fiction (and for archaic, but very accurate word choices). But, it is no stretch to say that Nick became a Tabby’s Place cat just in the nick of time.

Jauntily ear-clipped and slightly cross-eyed with a distinct starriness in his left eye, Nick looks like he’s ready to audition for a part in another one of those pirate movies set on the sea that has an expanse ranging between 1,500 to 3,200 miles away from Ringoes. Nick’s would have to be the star of the show, since, as a cat, he neither could nor would play any other role.

Aside from appearances, propensities, and a well-deserved high opinion of himself, Nick, nevertheless, leans marginally to the shy side. Spend more than a minute with him, though, and he’ll show you his underside. Rolling on the floor and going long (i.e. maximizing distance from nose tip to toes tips) are among Nick’s strongest points. Stick around for a very little bit longer, begin petting, and Nick’s adorable-est secret will become clear.

That secret? Nick is a belly boy.

Thus, this one year old has joined a very elite and supremely cuddly group of Tabby’s Place cats. Point of note: all Tabby’s Place cats are elite and supreme, regardless of their relative cuddliness or willingness (or utter lack thereof) to have their bellies rubbed (also regardless of whether they come from Trenton, Princeton, or somewhere east of the Mediterranean Sea). As a very playful youngling, time limits do apply. Also, toy time is greatly and energetically appreciated. Whatever way the time is spent doesn’t matter as much as it matters that the time is spent with Nick.

And, this just in, it might soon become distinctly more difficult for doting volunteers and adoring staff to spend time with Nick. Whispers abound of a forever home in the making. The magnificent Tabby’s Place adoptions team takes time with such dealings, and, until the dotted line is signed, nothing is fixed except the cats (Ha ha! Spay-neuter jokes are funny!). Rumor has it, though, that grey-tiger-cream and white-buff are two greats that go great together.

Eagerly anticipated news that forever times two has begun is awaited with bated breath. Whenever it happens, cheering shall resound from the nearest sea to the farthest sea. Whenever it happens, hearts will break open in a tidal wave of love and glee. Whenever it happens, the world will know that it happened exactly in the nick of time.
