Cat Scratch Fever

photo211Raise your hand if you thought that this post would be about the disease “cat scratch fever.”  Or, if you’re as old as me, you might think it would be about the putrid song with that name by the unbearable  Ted Nugent (though “Journey to the Center of the Mind” by the Amboy Dukes is a classic; that’s Ted on lead guitar  if you’re too young to remember them).

You’re all wrong.  But this is about a musical kind of cat scratching.

My musical tastes lean strongly towards punk/alternative and I’m not a fan of hip-hop, scratching, dance music, etc.  But I might have to reconsider the genre after seeing this excellent video.

BTW: for those of you that don’t remember the Amboy Dukes, that device the cat is manipulating was called a “record player” and it played music from large vinyl discs.

After viewing the video a few more times, my theory is that the cat was trying to destroy the record as a service to humanity 🙂

  1. So people now don’t know what a record player is? In school we were talking about things from the past–a slide ruler, a telephone with a dial, a pay phone, and using your mind to figure things out instead of the calculator or computer. Life is just bad anymore.
