Hymns and psalms and chorales and chants are all different kinds of songs. All are music to the ears, and at Tabby’s Place, those are just the beginning.
Even the very best of days can be tinged with sorrow. Too often, the exact someone with whom one wants most to share the brilliance, the joy, and the moment is just not there. Sometimes their not being there is irrevocable and irreversible.
Take it from this fanilow, Barry Manilow’s oeuvre is just like cats (no, not the Andrew Lloyd Webber musical; the actual furbies). Each song is the favorite, and each song is the best.
Whether you realize it or not, you are very, very familiar with the Arthurian Legend. Maybe you haven’t done the deep nerd thing (I can NOT make that claim), having never delved into Mallory (too much jousting!), Chrétien De Troyes (maudlin much?), or the Mabinogion (Welsh dictionary advised). Maybe you have never participated in any […]
Blissfully back inside Tabby’s Place, I am now one of the hands-on volunteers who get to sweep, mop, stock, and do all manner of cleaning and tasks that need lots of doing, all day, every day. (The cats wish I were a feeder, but they have that wish of all of the people they see […]
“OM” – classic and concise. “Oh, mama, papa, buy me pizza” — often used in my youth, now in disuse (“oh, no, I gotta buy my own pizza,” and “oh, hubby-wubby, buy me pizza,” just don’t have the same ring).
“Don’t panic!” Words on the cover of The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams. “Don’t panic! Adjust!” Concise, prosaic words from my high school gym teacher that have stuck with me these very many years since that thankfully brief period.
Mu (μ) is the friction constant (it’s a physics thing). Constant mew can cause immense friction (it’s a cat thing).
I’M BACK!!! Blow the trumpets! Blast the bugles! Bang the drums! SOUND THE KLAXON!
