Special Update for Scoots

Special Update for Scoots

A new family for Scoots!

Hello, dear friends of Scoots.

While you are expecting your regular monthly update from me and Scoots today, this is a particularly special one. Our little Scoots has been adopted and has moved to Connecticut! I realize that many of you may still be marveling at the good fortune of our Pixie‘s adoption back in May. Honestly, I was shocked that another family with the skills and time to care for a special needs kitty like Scoots came along so quickly on the heels of Pixie’s adopter. As you know, Scoots and I had a special bond, and I assumed she would be my office mate for much longer. I miss her, but I know that this is a wonderful opportunity for her.

As you can see in her farewell photo, Scoots did not go home alone. She is joined by little Cleat–the only boy in our “boat litter” of kittens. Cleat (now known as Bramble) is a rambunctious little guy, and I wholly expect that he and Scoots will have quite a fun time together. Scoots lacked a playmate in the Community Room, so having a willing young friend will be good for her social stimulation and activity level.

They are joining two other resident cats. Mom is a veterinary technician, and the couple recently lost a Special Needs kitten to a rare, debilitating disease. They wished to honor the memory of their first Special Needs baby by providing a loving home to another. They know how to care for Scoots, and they are ready to shower her with all the love she deserves.

Before venturing off on a new chapter in her life, Scoots enjoyed the comings and goings of kitties to and from the Community Room. In the last month, both Nina and Peep were adopted. Hunts moved to Suite B, and Shadow and Polly moved in. Scoots went about as usual and sat on my lap as I worked. During the past month, Scoots put on three quarters of a pound in weight–ahem. Her back half was getting quite round, but Scoots cared not for such observations and was happy to show off both her round belly and her amazing flexibility.

Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for your support of Scoots these last few months. Without your ongoing support of our kitties and our mission, Scoots and her zest for life would never have charmed so many. I know that my heart is forever changed because of this one kitten with her Bambi eyes.

Since Scoots has found a home to call her own, your sponsorship has been transferred to another Special Needs cat: our charming gentleman, Tux. Like Scoots, Tux resides in our Community room, and I am his correspondent. He is an older guy, but you’d never know it when you see him scamper around the room. You will be some of Tux’s very first sponsors, and you can meet him by clicking here.

If you’d prefer to choose a different cat to sponsor, you can meet them all here. Please feel free to email us if you’d like to transfer your support to a different kitty. (Otherwise, going forward you will receive updates on charming Tux each month.)

Thank you again for your kindness and generosity to Scoots. You’ve helped to make this marvelous news possible for her, and we’re so grateful!

Your correspondent,
Lisa
