Update for Scoots

Dear fans of Scoots,

Another month of summer has sped on by, and Scoots and I are back to share her adventures. The Community Room is a comfortable home for our “no longer so little” Scoots. She is happy and content, and I am happy that I get to spend 3 days of my work week with her.

Scoots has put on weight since moving to Tabby’s Place. While this is partially a factor of growing into an adult cat, Scoots is a little round in the mid-section. She has also developed an issue with flatulence. This does not seem to embarrass her in any way, so she doesn’t mind me sharing. However, it has resulted in a dietary restriction. When visiting the Community Room these days, you will see one or two food bowls of Fancy Feast on the conference table. Despite what Carley Rose or Peep might think, this is not for their dining enhancement, but to prevent young Scoots from overindulging in kibble.

Want to play?

Last month I mentioned that Scoots has trouble keeping clean on the underbelly. She now gets more frequent baths and these spa treatments seem to be doing the trick. There has been talk of putting Scoots in diapers, but it seems that her upkeep has improved and this idea was abandoned for the time being. She does, however, look quite fetching in purple!

Scoots has been in good health this month aside from a brief treatment for conjunctivitis in one eye. Once again, her Bambi eyes are just as big and clear as ever.

Too hot, must rest!

July was hot! Air conditioning is essential during these hot and humid summer days, and Scoots and her Lobby and Community Room companions had to suffer through two days without. All interior doors were opened up and shielded with baby gates. Fans were secured and blew cooler air from other parts of the building. I actually worked from home one afternoon to avoid the heat, but Scoots and her pals toughed it out. Rest assured that we made extra checks to ensure that our kitties would not overheat. Peep was extra put out because she ended up crated for two days while the repairs took place. She was the only cat who attempted to “jump the fence” and get a taste of Lobby life.

Scoots continues to make friends, both human and feline. I am told that the week I spent vacationing with my family was a bit difficult for Scoots, who sought out other staff for lap naps. While I am usually greeted every morning that I walk into the Community Room, I was given the cold shoulder my first day back. Happily, all was forgiven by the time I went home that day. Today we are happily “working together” as usual.

More and more, Scoots can be spotted resting near a friend or attempting to play with a roommate. Scoots likes to chase things, and that includes other kitties. She will pursue Peep, chase Carly Rose, ambush Tux, or surprise June. Scoots shares June’s fascination with paper, but while June likes to shred it, Scoots likes to crumple it. Sounds like the makings of a very fun game!
