Ode to joy

ed toungeSome things are so perfect, so magnificent, so very nearly heavenly, that to add to them would be criminal.

This image, for instance.

Or, the following update from Edward and Juju‘s Pa.

One box of joy, signed, sealed and delivered.
One box of joy, signed, sealed and delivered.

Just a brief introduction shall suffice. Faithful readers will recall that Juju and Edward were adopted this spring. Juju was/is FIV+ and a bit petrified of reality. Edward was/is FIV+ and prone to wobbling all cattywompus and higgledy piggledy, courtesy of cerebellar hypoplasia. One might hide; the other might have outside-the-box incidents.

To be adopted, they’d need a hero who’d put General Eisenhower, Optimus Prime and Iron Man all to shame. They’d need…a Marine.

Needless to say, their needs have been supremely met. Operation: Joy has been a complete success. Take it from the World’s Best Marine, Buck:

“I’m the guy who brought home Edward and Juju this spring.”

Editor’s interjection: As if we could ever forget you, Buck. Your name is etched into the eternal annals of Tabby’s Place’s Favorite Human Beings Ever. Ever.

“I just wanted to let you guys know that they are both doing great! Edward is the most loving kitty in the world. He LOVES to sit in people’s laps. He still has the occasional problem getting in and out of the litter box, but we don’t mind.

“Ed is also quite the climber — he climbs up onto the couch all the time by himself.

“Juju is no longer the shy little kitty she was when I first brought her home. Now she is completely obsessed with me — I don’t get it! She loves to jump up onto my lap when I’m trying to work. Her favorite thing to do is climb up behind wherever I’m sitting and act like my personal pillow. She also loves to sit in the sink, and also on my bed so she can creep on the neighbors behind my house (as you can see in the attached photo).

“I moved up to Bangor, Maine recently to go back to school. We just had our first snow, and Juju loves watching the flakes fall and the plows on the road. I’m still trying to find a vet up here that I am comfortable with, but I have time before Juju is due for a checkup.

“I hope all is well at Tabby’s Place! I just “Liked” the Tabby’s Place page on Facebook and I’m having fun looking at all the cute kitties down there.

“Thank you again for letting me adopt Edward and Juju! They are seriously the best thing to happen to me in so many years. Every day they bring me a world of joy.”

World without end, amen and Semper Fi.

  1. Mr. Marine:

Thank you for your loving devotion to these two special kitties.

But even as big a cat lover as I am, there is something even more important for which I wish to thank you…

    Your service to our country.

  2. Yes, thank you for your watch care over these special kitties … and, especially, for your service to all of us who are proud to be Americans … because of people like you!
