Update for Viktor

Good Day, Viktor Fans!

As many of you know, this year is starting off with some very exciting news! Our new building, Quinn’s Corner, is nearing completion. We have started using the new laundry facilities, as well as moving some staff and kitties to their new offices. Long-time lobby cat Anka was one of the first to move. I will definitely keep you posted as we approach the Grand Opening later this year.

On the medical front, Viktor has been battling increased congestion. He started getting nebulized once a day. When his upper respiratory infection improves, we will discontinue this treatment. His insulin demands have continued to increase since his arrival. He is now receiving 6u twice per day. We don’t know Viktor’s background, or how long his diabetes was left untreated, but we do know he is lucky to have found his way to Tabby’s Place! Due to his high insulin requirements, our fabulous vet team ran a specialized test to check for acromegaly. Acromegaly is a condition that results from chronic, excessive secretion of growth hormone in an adult cat. This condition could cause tumors, as well as other issues. Thankfully, he received a negative test result!

On our visits, Viktor has been an incredible love bug! I was his foster mom for his quarantine period, and I quickly learned what a sweet boy Viktor is. He would sit on my lap, and we would watch Netflix for hours every day.

I still bring my tablet on my visits, put a blanket on my lap, and he quickly climbs up for belly rubs and cuddles. He loves to lay on his back and stretch out his long body (including his adorable little toe beans) as far as he can! This boy has a purr that can be heard across the room!

He is still a little shy with the other kitties, but he has adjusted to life at Tabby’s Place wonderfully. Viktor is a resident of Suite A, which has some of the calmest and friendliest kitties in the building. He is now Suite-mates with Steven and Pepita, who are two of our certified therapy cats. Maybe they could talk him into giving it a try! From what I understand, he loves getting visits from the children in the Paws to Read program. This sweet boy is simply enjoying life!

Thank you so much for sponsoring Viktor!
