Update for Stafford

Greetings, Stafford fans! Ready for the latest on our wonderful boy?

There is no medical news for Stafford this month, confirmation of the old adage that “no news is good news.”  That nasty and severe constipation has not returned; fingers crossed that it never does! But so far, so good.

Is there an ulterior motive to Stafford’s tolerance around his roommate Sherbet? It’s still the case that Sherbet leans into Stafford when the two are standing close together and sleeps on top of our boy, all without so much as a hiss from Stafford. But Sherbet, who is in distinctly fragile shape, is getting more than her share of visitors these days. In an attempt to keep up Sherbet’s weight, she’s allowed to have any food she wants and as much of it as she’ll eat, and her many visitors are happy to tempt her uncertain appetite.

Like most felines, food is extremely important to Stafford, and he’s been helping himself to the smorgasbord of food and treats with which Sherbet is being plied. Still, if he wanted to, he could help himself to Sherbet’s food and treats and not put up with her extreme closeness, so I think he’s just naturally patient and good-tempered.

We’ve expanded our Aged to Purrfection Program slightly. Typically, a select few cats go out to senior communities for this program, but we’ve begun working with one senior community that now sends their residents to us. I like this approach because it’s easier on our felines and the seniors get to experience a wider variety of cats. I’m sure Stafford will be delighted to welcome new senior friends into his home, and I know the seniors will love him.

Thank you for your generosity! Because of it, we can keep Stafford (and other cats like him) where he’s comfortable and cared for.

Your correspondent,
Stephanie

Editor’s note: We lost dear Sherbet shortly after this update was written. You can read Jonathan’s farewell to dear Sherbet here.
