Update for Shifty

Update for Shifty

Hello, my friends!

My Correspondent Kim has given me the chance to put “pen to paw” again this month, and write my own update.  Kim is right here, helping me along.

We had a story we wanted to share together that will bring a smile.

The volunteers of Tabby’s Place have a private Facebook site to which they can post information, share photos, and update one another about the cats. These posts are particularly meaningful to those volunteers unable to visit the sanctuary due to the COVID restrictions in place at the present time.

Last week Kim mentioned another cat named Cotton in a post, and referred to him as a “handsome hunk o’fluff.”  She included a nice photo of Cotton in her post, for all the volunteers to enjoy.

One of those volunteers replied with the following comment: “No, no. The only handsome hunk at Tabby’s Place is my man Shifty!”

Needless to say, I loved this comment!

That volunteer fan assists with deep cleanings at the sanctuary and his help is very much needed to keep everything tidy and sanitary.  This is a volunteer that I do get to see.  He loves me; I love him. He calls me “his man” when he enters the Employee/Volunteer Lounge where I reside.  I love the attention, which I have to admit I have been missing since the shut-down.  But “chin-up,” as we say here at Tabby’s Place!  We await the day when all volunteers can come back in to visit us.  But right now, that simply is not possible under the state restrictions in place for everyone’s safety and protection.

My health report for this month is “status quo.” We consider that a good thing here at Tabby’s Place.  There was one day recently when I was not too enthusiastic about the treats offered; for me, that is a big thing.  But the next day, I was back to “normal,” waiting with my big eyes aglow as those same yummies were dished out.

Kim would like to comment that my coat looks very nice.  She says that I look quite debonair, with my big white bib, white-gloved paws, and svelte gray coat. When she pets me, my fur is soft and plush.  My handsome “cat-smile” is always in place (well, unless suite co-resident cat Reese is around.  That feline friendship is a “work in progress.”  Stay tuned!).

Thank you, dearest sponsors, for your kind gifts that go towards the care I need to remain the very best boy I can be.  We appreciate that help, each and every day.  But in this most uncertain of times, your faith and loyalty to me and to Tabby’s Place is heartfelt and means more than these few words can say.

Love,
Shifty
