Update for Rose

Update for Rose

Welcome to August!

Hope that y’all are planning lots of fun things for the rest of the summer.  I have had such a great summer.

My grandmaw on my papa’s side always said, “the key to your future is understanding your past.”  I now understand what she meant.  I looked at my update from last August, and almost forgot how ill I was, fighting an ear infection that went into my brain along with a lesion on my spine.  My prognosis was not good, but you and the Tabby’s Place vet staff never gave up on me.  I remember the afternoon “picnics” with my correspondent in the hospital.  I had all of the medical care, love, food, and toys a kitten could ever want, and all I wanted was to get well.

Fast forward a year and here stands one of the most grateful li’l black-and-white southern cats in the universe!  The head tilt that I had last year is not distinguishable, and I walk with confidence and at times a great deal of speed (when a laser pointer or food is involved).  Bless your heart and thank you for being my family, and for giving me the strength to fight and beat my illnesses!

Fast-forwarding to the present… Yesterday I received a bottom bath in the late afternoon and was put in my night crate to wait for dinner.  A bottom bath feels so good because it makes me feel so fresh and clean, and best of all my diapie is off so I can air dry.  Out of the corner of my eye, I spotted my correspondent walking towards me, holding a beach towel.  I was a bit confused when she approached my crate, leaned down, opened the door, and wrapped me in the towel like a baby kitten.  I was in for a treat!

I was whisked off to Solarium A!!  My correspondent received approval from the vet techs to bring me to the solarium, but only if she stayed with me.  The solarium was my favorite place when I lived in Suite A.  I would spend most of my day napping and watching the birds and butterflies go by.  The solarium door opened, and I was so happy to see my old roommates Pepita, Steven, Chewbacca, and Abe.

Everyone was nice to me.  I think they remembered me because I remembered them.  There is a new tortie girl named Alice in Suite A who my correspondent said is very sweet.  Alice approached me, I think she wanted to be my friend, but I was cautious and gave her a hiss.  Like old times, I rested on one of the cots and breathed in the fresh air until it was time to go back to the lobby and enjoy my dinner.  Please enjoy the picture of me in the solarium.

As much as I enjoyed my solarium time, I truly love being a lobby resident.  I have become the special needs ambassador, and welcome visitors, staff and volunteers, and a few UPS and Fed-Ex drivers.  I enjoy sitting on a big comfy lobby chair (see picture).  I have many more responsibilities in the lobby than I had in Suite A.  Aside from being the special needs ambassador, I check on the kittens through their suite glass to be sure that they are OK.  I direct the feeder volunteers to my area for food placement.  I entertain visitors with my extreme laser pointer skills.  Just this weekend I was given a new responsibility.  I wish newly adopted kittens or cats a fond farewell.  The picture is me saying goodbye to kitten Bast.

My diapie adventures continue.  My correspondent says that I look slimmer, but in her eyes, I look perfect all the time.  Technically, I am not served lunch (OK, maybe I find a leftover lunch, and help to get rid of the evidence).  I cannot tell a lie, I continue to remove my diapie.  I don’t mean to add extra work for the staff, so I leave the diapie next to me, mol (see picture).

Time for my health update.  I have had a few coughs this past month, and the staff and volunteers are keeping an eye on me.  Other than that, I am happy, healthy, and grateful for having you as my sponsor!

Soak in the summer sun, and I am sending you summer-soaked whisker kisses!

Love,
Rose
