Update for Mary

Autumnal greetings to you, dear sponsors!

October has arrived, and it is my favorite time of year. The weather is growing cooler here in Ringoes, NJ and the leaves on the trees are beginning to change. Greens are turning to golds and oranges and reds right before my eyes as I gaze out into our beautiful backyard. And don’t worry, sponsors… my super fantastic fluffy fur keeps me warm and cozy, even as the October breezes blow through our solarium screen.

It has been a peaceful month in Suite A, and I have continued to enjoy good health. Thanks to you and your sponsorship, I have the absolute best possible veterinary care and oodles of human affection from our staff and volunteers every single day.

Our Curbside Volunteering program is thriving, and I have been treated to many joyful stroller rides around our lovely property. And this month, instead of just pictures, I have a VIDEO to share!!! One of my volunteer friends put together a marvelous video of stroller rides with yours truly, along with a few other fabulous feline residents of Tabby’s Place. I hope it brings you joy! Click here to watch our stroller ride video!

And if you don’t know the other kitties in the video, look them up on our Tabby’s Place Adoptable Cats Page and perhaps you will make a new friend or two!

So tell me, my bestest friends… have you ever heard of a ‘back-scratcher’? Well, I am one of the biggest fans you’ll ever meet of just regular ol’ back scratches… but those were from human hands. This month, I learned about a new toy that brought my back-scratching game to a whole new level. Another volunteer friend of mine came to visit our suite with this fancy contraption that gave stupendous back scratches. I couldn’t get enough of it!!

Granted, it took me a few minutes to understand exactly what it was… I was mystified by this wand-ish thing that had what looked like a tiny metal hand on one end… but I caught on quickly. Within minutes, I was competing with my suitemate Adam for time with that newfangled contraption! I am attaching pictures to this month’s update so that you can see my utter bliss during my time with the back-scratcher.

My volunteer friend told me that my purring was so loud when I crawled into her lap, she thought maybe a little earthquake was happening! I must admit, I was purring like a madwoman. Can you blame me?

Then she tried to give my suitemate Chewbacca a turn. She thought maybe since the back-scratcher stretches out a foot or two that she could give Chewie some long-distance pets, but he wasn’t hanging out where she could reach him. Chewie is not a fan of being close enough to people to allow them to directly pet him… and I try to tell him all the time that he is missing out… but we all stay hopeful that he will come around someday.

So my correspondent was able to visit me again this month, and I was ecstatic to see her, as always! As soon as I saw her walk through the door, I jumped up and went right to her. We snuggled and snuggled, and then snuggled some more. It was glorious. She of course told me over and over how beautiful I am… her visits are VERY good for my ego!

I am ever so grateful lately because I do get to see more of my volunteer friends these days, but things here are still far from back to normal. I just keep hoping with all of my furry grey heart that the humans can figure out a way to rid the world of that horrible virus.

And since I’m sure you are stressed out about it all, I also wanted to include a funny picture in my update. When my correspondent visited, my backside had been freshly shaven to help keep me clean. Poop sticking to fluffy grey butt fur is not a good look for a lady like myself. So she took a picture for you to see what my little nub of a tail looks like when it is practically naked. She said it was adorable, and I hope you think so too!

I wish you the best of Octobers, and I will write again soon. I love you with all of my furry grey heart! Until next month, be kind to one another.

Love,
Mary
