Update for Carrot

Dear Carrot friends,

Our Carrot is a star! He has finally hit the stage, and there’s no going back now.

One of our staff members, Lisa, was approached by a lady from the Music Mountain Theater Company. They were doing a production of The Aristocats, and they wondered if we would set up a table in the lobby area, promoting Tabby’s Place. And would it be possible for us to bring a cat with us, for a meet and greet before and after the shows? Lisa asked me if I thought we could do this, and I thought it was a great idea and good publicity for Tabby’s Place. The question of which cat to take was very easy…. Carrot!

Carrot is the most confident in new situations of all our Aged to Purrfection cats, and this situation would test any cat’s confidence. Carrot, of course, was a complete star and loved every minute of it. He had his own changing room and lots of adoring fans. The co-founder of the theater was so amazed at how well Carrot was doing, she asked if he could join her on stage to introduce the show. So he did. Our little Carrot sat in the middle of the big stage, with a theater full of people staring at him, and he just sat there, looking back at them. He truly is a star.

Carrot explored the whole theater, met all the cast in the production, and the public attending the show, and had a wonderful time.  To read more about Carrot’s big stage debut see Lisa’s blog here:  Carrot on Stage

Carrot, now famous, has not forgotten about his most important role: his therapy cat role. Carrot and Rose visited 2 of our 4 senior homes so far this month, and they are scheduled to visit the other 2 homes later this month. Who knew a little cat could have such a busy social life? Carrot loves to travel to all these places, and he enjoys it as much as the seniors do.

One of our volunteers came to tell me Carrot is a hero. She said that Wilbur, one of the tough boys in Suite C, was bullying some of the cats in the solarium.  Carrot was having none of that, and immediately went over and put Wilbur in his place. The volunteer said Carrot kept standing up to Wilbur, taking none of his guff, until Wilber backed down.

In medical news, Carrot is on a new medication to help him pass stool easier. It seems to be working very well, and things in that department are working much better for him.

That’s all the Carrot news for now. Thank you all for your continued support of our little superstar. Because of you, Carrot is out in the world making people smile and bringing awareness to Tabby’s Place, special needs cats, and the importance of rescuing these wonderful animals.
