Update for Carrot

Dear Carrot friends,

Big news….. get ready to be proud of your boy…… Carrot is now a Certified Therapy Cat! I am including pictures of his certificate, his id badge, and adorable pictures of him wearing his Therapy Cat bandanna. He truly deserves this honor, along with his other Aged to Purrfection team members.

We certified all 8 of the cats who participate in this wonderful program:  Carrot, Rose, Stafford, Sherbet, Anka, Denni, Tux, and Pixie. Side note: Pixie was adopted right after being certified, but her new momma is going to continue nursing home visits with Pixie near their home.

Each of these cats works hard each week to bring joy to others, and even though they love their work, it’s nice to be recognized for the amazing cats they are.

This week sees us adding our 4th home to Aged to Purrfection, and guess who is going for the first visit? Carrot, of course, and his sidekick, Rose. I always send these two to test the waters, because they are the most confident cats in the program.

This is becoming a full-time job for these cats, and they couldn’t be happier about it. It’s certainly broadened their worlds and keeps them from being bored. It is such wonderful enrichment for the cats and gives them something to look forward to.

In medical news, Carrot had some chin acne this month. It improved quickly with daily scrubbing, but we spared him further scrubbing when Jonathan stated: “He hates it, and he acts like a kid whose grandmother has licked her finger and wiped the corner of his mouth.”

Carrot has made a new friend in his suite, Kirk. Several volunteers have seen the two of them curled up together, napping and grooming each other. One of the pictures I am including is a picture of Carrot playing with Kirk’s tail. Kirk is a very easygoing, sweet boy, and Carrot has decided he likes him.

That’s all the Carrot news for now. As always, thank you all for your continued support of Carrot. We couldn’t do this without you.
