Update for Adam

Update for Adam

Welcome to March, Dear Friends!

Adam and I are happy to be back with another update on Adam’s adventures.

We would like to welcome Mary’s sponsors to the world of Adam this month.  Mary was a sweet, wonderful kitty who shared Suite A with Adam.  Sadly, she passed away earlier this month.  Mary was a one-of-a-kind kitty.  She was beautiful to look at, but extraordinary to know.  Mary was a nurturer cat.  She always knew which cats in the suite were feeling ill or were sad and she would snuggle with them and mother them to be sure all was okay.  She was one of the most sensitive cats I have ever known and for those of us who loved her, her passing leaves a huge hole in our hearts.  We are better for having known her and her legacy will surely carry on in the cats and humans she touched.  So, welcome to Mary’s friends.  We are happy to have you sponsoring Adam and delighted for you to get to know our quirky little tabby boy.

Mary looking at Adam

Adam is a very different kitty from Mary, but he is amazing in his own right.  Lately, he has been spending a lot of time figuring out how to get into Stefan’s crate.  Stefan is a relatively new cat to Suite A and he is currently being medicated for behavior issues—mainly overstimulation.  For this reason, Stefan is crated during the morning cleaning routine.  Adam is fascinated by this.  As soon as Stefan is released from the crate when the cleaning is done, Adam jumps into the crate, sniffs it vigorously, nibbles some kibble, and settles down for a nap.  Luckily Stefan doesn’t get offended by this strange behavior.  It is unclear what Adam finds so interesting about this spot, but he is Adam and there’s really no explaining anything when it comes to him.

Last month, Adam was put on a stool softener to make him (and the staff) more comfortable during the expression of his colon.  This has certainly helped.  By the end of the month, his stool was reported to be a “perfect consistency” for expressing.  For those of you who haven’t had the pleasure, perfect poop is often the cause for celebration at Tabby’s Place.  We have thought of throwing a parade to announce to the world this great achievement, but alas, no one outside of a cat rescue would really understand!  We are hoping for continued perfection from Adam for months to come.

I have a special stance for eating!

For those of you who are newer sponsors of Adam, perhaps this is a good time to remind everyone a little of Adam’s history and a bit about his personality.  Adam was found as a tiny kitten and was raised as a bottle baby.  He was raised as an only kitten for almost the first year of his life.  He has a spinal cord injury, probably from birth, that has caused him to be incontinent and to have quite the swagger when he walks.  He was brought to Tabby’s Place when he was a little over a year old because his incontinence was hard to handle.  He also has some unusual neurological issues.  Adam is a lovely cat, but he can be a bit bratty due to his early upbringing as a bottle baby.  He never really learned how to be a cat and to this day is one of the most unusual cats I have ever met.  He is a doll and we adore him and laugh uproariously at his silly antics.  Adam is truly unique.

Adam and I want to thank all of you for your generosity and love. Adam has a wonderful life because of special people like you.  We will be back in April with another update on Adam’s wacky life!  Until then, be well.
