Update for Adam

Enjoying nap time with paws crossed!

Hi Friends!

Adam and I send you all sorts of happy October wishes.  We hope that everyone is healthy and enjoying the nice fall weather.

Adam has had a good month health-wise.  He enjoys his naps both indoors and outside in the solarium.  He has also been getting some stroller rides.

Strolling along!

Sadly for me, because I am a teacher currently back teaching in the classroom in-person to a group of children, I have to put a hold on volunteering at Tabby’s Place while I am in a position where I am in contact with so many people every day.  I feel that I would possibly be unsafe for many of the other staff and volunteers to be around, so I miss my Adam visits.  I have to rely on some good volunteer friends to lend me their stories of time with Adam.  I miss my little buddy!

What is this back scratcher thing?

Adam has a very dedicated stroller driver who likes to take him on walks. He finally met his goal this month of 30-plus minutes without hissing. Apparently, he gets a little feisty while in the stroller. When he got back inside, he was wheeled into Suite A and when his driver lifted the lid of the stroller, Adam looked back at her over his shoulder, gave a nice big hiss, jumped out, and walked off as only Adam could. To imagine Adam walking you have to picture someone who has been sitting on a horse for way too long. Adam always walks as if he is a little saddle-sore! I’m sure his sauntering away in hissy disgust was right up there with the best of the old-time cowboys!

Adam and Mary checking out the back scratcher

Another volunteer friend visited Adam with a back scratcher. She was trying to scratch Chewy’s back, since he is reluctant to be touched much, but he wasn’t in a good place to try it. Adam and Mary loved the back scratcher. You can see some pictures here of him testing it out. Adam was given some treats and then climbed into the volunteer’s lap. He climbed up her shirt and “smooshed” her face. Apparently, he was a very affectionate boy that day!

Adam and I thank you for your dedication and love of Tabby’s Place and especially of him. Adam knows that all the wonders of stroller rides and back scratchers come because people like you care a whole lot about cats like him. We hope that you continue to stay safe and well and enjoy your fall. We’ll be back next month with more tales from Adam.
