Editor’s note: Do you love Lucy?
Did our sunny snowball touch your heart?
Prepare yourself. Your heart is about to grow ten billion times in size.
Ready? Excellent. We’ll let Lucy and Claudius’s AwesomeAdopters take it from here. XO, AT
Dear Tabby’s Place,
We wanted to share a heartfelt update on Lucy and Claudius. Since we’ve adopted from Tabby’s Place before, we already knew how dedicated and caring you all are—but once again, you’ve gone above and beyond in ensuring these cats found the perfect home.
Settling In: A Purrfect Transition
It’s been three wonderful weeks since Lucy and Claudius joined us, and each day they reveal more of their personalities. They’ve made themselves right at home—claiming cozy spots, entertaining us with playful antics, and showing off just how loving they can be.
Meet Claudius: The Cautious Adventurer
Though he can be a bit shy at first, Claudius quickly warms up and shows his true colors:
- Lap Lover: He’s happiest curled up on a warm lap—especially if Lucy is within sight.
- Playtime Pro: If this were a Western, he would be known for having the “Fastest Paws in the East.” Claudius becomes downright activated when he sees a feather toy!
- Neighborhood Watch: He loves supervising the outside world from our windows, especially peeking at the bird feeder (and the occasional bold squirrel!) with playful curiosity.
It’s heartwarming to see him become braver day by day, growing into a confident, playful cat.
Meet Lucy: The Vocal Superstar
Lucy is our chatty diva. We like to imagine an entire album titled “Sounds of Lucy,” with tracks like:
- “Lucy Wants More Food”
- “Lucy Wants You to Pet Her”
- “Lucy Wants to Know Why the Door Is Closed”
- “Lucy Wants Up on the Couch”
- “Lucy Wants to Play”
Her commentary of meeps, meows and purrs keeps us smiling, and we can’t resist those adorable requests. When Miss Lucy speaks, we listen!
She’s also taken to including us in her grooming sessions. One moment, she’s licking her paw; the next, she’s licking our hand, arm, or even a leg.
We’re also happy to report that Lucy has been a superstar when it comes to her medication. We’ve had no trouble giving her pills or even an allergy shot—she’s taken it all in stride.
Learning & Growing Together
Lucy sometimes becomes overstimulated and nibbles on fingers—something we’re actively working on. We jokingly call her “Cannibal Kitty,” and even have a silly song about how maybe humans don’t need all five fingers if cats don’t have thumbs. CHOMP! Cannibal Kitty is taking your thumb!
On the flip side, Claudius has a serious case of FOMOL (Fear Of Missing Out on Lucy) and is always eager to be wherever she is. Lucy seems to understand he’s just excited, not aggressive. Every now and then, if he flops down a bit too enthusiastically or rushes toward her unexpectedly, she’ll give him a quick swat. Fortunately, they never stay upset for long—they’re usually back to snuggling or grooming each other in no time.
A Match Made in Heaven
Lucy and Claudius have already brought so much joy, laughter, and warmth into our home that it feels like they’ve been part of our family forever. We couldn’t be happier to have them with us, and it’s all thanks to the amazing work you do.
Thank You, Tabby’s Place!
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for entrusting these two wonderful companions to us. We hope this update brightens your day, and we’ll be sure to share how their vet appointment goes. We look forward to filling you in on more Lucy and Claudius adventures as they continue to settle into their forever home.
With warmest gratitude and purrs,
Mike & Candy
