Kitty LeFey’s Cosmos: More Toasted Marshmallows – The Tummy Trouble Edition

We all know that tummy trouble happens when we eat too many sweets at once. But, what happens when three ultra-sweet cats all land at once in the tummy trouble suite at Tabby’s Place? More Toasted Marshmallows: The Tummy Trouble Edition.

Tabby’s Place is known for harboring sweetness at the highest level. Tabby’s Place is also known for doing whatever it takes to rescue and continue caring for cats from hopeless situations. Further, Tabby’s Place staff, out of necessity, have a very high level of expertise with poop. Nonetheless, sometimes an overload of sweetness comes paired tripled with tummy challenges that require creative thinking.

Tuttie, Donnie, and Wally (affectionately known as Wallypop), are befuddling the least fuddled experts in feline gastrointestinal shenaninganery. As part of the attempts to unfuddle their smooshy tum-tums, the trio has been relocated to a room in the intake hallway. Usually reserved for the incoming and the still-in-need-of-separation-from-the-general-population, this special location keeps the tuxedoed Donnie and his two black besties, Tuttie and Wally, where staff can keep a close eye on them and carefully monitor their diets and help make them, ahem, more comfortable.

Because the adorable trio is, in fact, more toasty warm and gooey sweet than the most perfect marshmallows, they are in much need of company. Hence, there is special dispensation for volunteers to hang out in the room that would typically be off-limits. A visiting volunteer would be well advised to bring a brush…and a wand toy…and a toothbrush…and make sure to have plenty of time to spend. Wait. What? A toothbrush? Yes. After one has been immersed in sugary delights, one must do everything necessary to prevent cavities. But, I digress.

Regressing Getting back on track, one would be well served to enter this VIPF suite slowly and carefully. The very second that a person has a thought of entering, Donnie and Tuttie will be headed toward the door. There are no greeters quite like these two (Sorry, Olive.). “Friendly” is an insufficient word for the welcome any visitor will receive.

Tuttie dances and sings, showing off every black fur in absolute splendor. Donnie rubs and snuggles, along with a tiny bit of showing off. Wallypop, the delicious, black senior, is more likely to wait quietly until approached. The reward for petting is perfect purrs and heavenly cuddles. Individually and together, Wally, Tuttie, and Donnie are amazing felines. The only challenge is that their tummies are, individually and together, a source of conundrums and consternation (not constipation, to be too clear).

Different diets are being tested and retested. Results are being reviewed (i.e. close litterbox observation). Adjustments are being made. Updated results are being re-reviewed. And, the process will be repeated until things firm up (Yes, that’s a poop reference and a joke. Yes, ew.).

While the trials and retrials are underway, Donnie, Wally, and Tuttie will remain in the special location. Since they continue indulging in excessive sweetness, it is difficult to imagine when they will be integrated back into a full-size suite. But, they have each other, and they have a loving staff and volunteers seeing to their every need. Because they are Tabby’s Place cats, they also have you, their amazing extended family of donors, sponsors, and supporters. And, that is sweeter than a whole bags’ worth of toasted marshmallows.
