Kitty LeFey’s Cosmos: Arrival

Kitty LeFey’s Cosmos: Arrival

Homegoings are the most celebrated moments at Tabby’s Place. Afterall, nothing is better than family finding each other. Arrivals are also the most celebrated moments at Tabby’s Place. Let’s face it, there is much to celebrate at Tabby’s Place. Correction, there are MANY to celebrate at Tabby’s Place, in particular (but, not exclusively) upwards of 150 felines that warrant individual parties and a vast amount of rejoicement.

One among these many is recently welcomed (with fanfare!) Hannah. How fortunate we are to have a living palindrome amongst us! Front to back, nose to tail, top to bottom, Hannah is a reason to celebrate. Hannah knows this…even if he (Yes, “he”) is just the tiniest bit shy about showing that he knows it. Anyone who meets Hannah will know it toot sweet (Fast!). Okay, the correct French is “tout de suite,” and that’s appropriate because Hannah is nestled in sweet Suite E.

Important side note: Hannah has a tongue and is not afraid to use it. Alright, maybe that should be a giant header. Hannah is a very, very sweet sweetie, and his kisses are many and ewy in a delightfully charming way. Of course they are! This feline with a palindromic name is a festival of delightful charm with all of his butterscotch topped marshmallow enveloping the sundae within.

It’s not that spending time with Hannah will yield cavities, but beware the sugar rush. Head in hand for scritches, wriggles, snuggles, all of it could melt anyone’s sweetest nature into gooey caramel fit only for dipping apples. Hannah is almost too good to be true. Almost.

Yes, there is a “but” that’s about to land. Actually, it’s more of a “butt.” Hey, this is Tabby’s Place where “less” is a tail that is too often tagged on the end of “hope.” We don’t worry about the presence of tails. While they are common, tails are not prerequisites for residency. In fact, many residents are missing significant sections of tails. But, Hannah joins only one other resident in having come into the world that way.

Yes, Hannah has Manx syndrome. This means that his hind end is bereft of tail. That means he appears quite bunny-like when he bounds up the free-standing steps in his suite. It also means that his continence level is not exactly 100%. It is also not exactly 100% clear of how impactful this questionable continence is or will be in daily life around the suite…or, hopeFULLy in a home.

Until Hannah does find a forever family, he will be enthusiastically embraced by staff and volunteers. Being a walking palindrome, that means the love will come backwards and forwards. Being cat, in a very special place, Hannah’s arrival will be celebrated every day, for all of his many days and years to come and from every direction imaginable.
