Happy September to you, my kind and dear sponsor! And….
Happy Cat Month!!!!
I just love when our ace receptionist Sharon’s kitty calendar turns the page to September, for so many reasons! I love to find a reason to party… and September finds me celebrating Happy Cat Month. An entire month of having my every whim and need answered so that I am perpetually happy!
Besides Happy Cat Month, I do have lots to share with you, so hang on. Here we go!

The last month found me with a small health blip. Unfortunately, I developed a urinary tract infection, which is actually quite common among kitties who require our bladders to be expressed to help us pee. Luckily, my devoted staff caught it very quickly and medicated me with a round of antibiotics. I am back to my normal self with my so very sunny disposition!
The end of August did find us having a seriously sad day, as we honored Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day. This was a day to remember our friends that are no longer with us, and support our staff in paying tribute to our dear and cherished lobby friends (Cora, Boobalah, Grecca, and Jack, to name just a few) who each left huge pawprints on all our hearts. A memorial brick is lovingly placed on the memorial pathway in Cherny’s Garden, and they know we will never forget.
September brings with it one of Tabby’s Place’s biggest calls for support, which are donations to The Linda Fund. The Linda Fund was established as an emergency resource available to help the most desperate of kitties in the most dire situations. You know, those who are hanging on by a few hairs of their tail, with little hope left in life. This Linda Fund is used when there is a crisis and immediate help and costly medical attention are needed, with no time to seek sponsors and donors.
The great thing about the Linda Fund Matching Challenge—aside from saving those kitties in extreme peril—is that all funds donated are matched by angel benefactors. So every single dollar donated to the Linda Fund becomes TWO dollars. Now, I am not a genius at math, but they explained it to me like this: for every treat the fabulous Carolyn gives me, another fantastic person I will never know makes it magically become two treats. How great is that?
They told me this double my treats challenge—I mean this Linda Fund Challenge—runs concurrent with Happy Cat Month, through the end of September. We send great big kisses of thanks to all the donors and benefactors, as we are just over halfway to this year’s Linda Fund goal! All of us here at Tabby’s Place are grateful beyond words for the love and generosity that is shown to us by our friends like you, our devoted and wonderful monthly sponsors, as well as all our donors throughout the year.

I have probably already told you: life in the Lobby is never dull! After morning rounds with the staff and volunteers (think medications, bladder expression, and breakfast), we have free time to do as we wish. This includes relaxing, taking a nap, playing with toys and the ripple rug (a combined play mat and cozy bed with folds and holes for us to interact with and make our play more fun! I’m on it in the header photo), or participating in my yoga class.
When lunch is served, we all know it is time to scurry and be on point and prepare for the doors to open. This means cleaning up all our toys so they are not a tripping hazard, as well as being alert and on our best behavior for the afternoon of visitors.
For me, having my toys put away is not a big deal because I keep so busy greeting and guiding our visitors. For some of my lobby mates (such as silly Berry), the lack of toys leaves them a tad bored. Others, such as Hips and Peabody, choose to use this time to scoot through doors they are not supposed to. I could not help laughing and shaking my head when I sailed by Berry and found him using a tuft of his own fur as toy to play with. I wondered what was he thinking? But hey, it is Happy Cat Month so if it keeps them happy, good for them!

There are lots of other things to love about this time of the year. What I do not love is that the staff makes me take a day off for “Labor Day.” They say I work so hard running things in the lobby and greeting everyone that it is crucial I take a day off. But when September arrives, I know there are lots of fun times in store soon! The weather will turn a little less hot and humid, so that means more playtime in the grass and stroller rides! And lots of more holidays are right around the corner. I am so excited, so watch your inbox for lots more news next month.
Until then, please know that I love and appreciate you for the wonderful person, kind and generous sponsor, you are. I do not even want to think about what my life would be without you. I hope you know how grateful I am and how much I appreciate YOU!
Tons of Love,
Miss Olive – Royal Queen of the Lobby
