Update for Olive

A hot and steamy summery hello to you, my sweet sponsor and special friend!

Oh those lazy, hazy crazy days of summer!!!

The summer days are flying by me here at Tabby’s Place, and the supply of hot weather and scary pop-up thunderstorms has been endless!

The heat I can deal with (after all, I am inside enjoying refreshing air conditioning), but the wicked humidity finds its way inside and makes my fur have a mind of its own, as you can see in my picture!

Nevertheless, I have been enjoying the sunshine and long summer days, and I hope you have some time to do the same!

I have been in overall good health and exhibiting my usual spirited self this past month.  While I do continue to pick at my fur, there is no medical reason for it, and it does not affect my beauty, so it is something everyone just keeps an eye on, and no one is losing sleep over.  I have had a few coughing episodes over the last few weeks, but I assure you that I am just fine and dandy and in tip-top shape!

There have been lots of things to celebrate this month, and boy, have I celebrated!

Celebrating International Friendship Day with my friend Luna

Rounding out July, and before starting the big August celebration (more on that in a moment), was International Friendship Day on July 30th.

I bet you are thinking, “Olive, you must have lost your marbles … as a cat of Tabby’s Place, why would you be telling us about celebrating International Friendship Day?” Well, quite simply, because I have many international friends!

This is because Tabby’s Place is known worldwide, and we have sponsors and followers far beyond the borders of little Ringoes, New Jersey. It is actually hard for a gorgeous and humble kitty like me to comprehend all the people, thousands of miles away, that follow us on social media, loving and supporting us from near and far.  And I am just so honored to have all of you as my dear friends!

And then there are international feline friends to celebrate!  First, there is my dear friend and lobby mate, Luna, who arrived earlier this year all the way from Beirut, Lebanon.

Thanks to Tabby’s Place being such a warm and welcoming sanctuary, we just recently welcomed 15 more new international friends, also saved by Animals Lebanon.  These poor little souls had rough lives no kitty should experience.

The wonderful humans of Tabby’s Place and Animals Lebanon moved heaven and earth for these international friends to join us here.  They are now part of our family, where they can feel comfortable, safe, and loved. You can meet all of them here.

Put on your party hats because we are celebrating my August birthday all month long!

So, do you wanna guess what we are celebrating during the entire month of August??  Here is a little hint—something black and white and stunningly gorgeous.

If you guessed me … you are right!!!  August is my birthday, and this year, rather than just celebrating one day, we are celebrating allll month loooooong!  This is the perfect reason to give me extra attention, lots of head scritches, and all the special birthday treats that I can eat—and, of course, demand.

Oh, what a wonderful way to celebrate me!  And, since the treats are for my birthday, my staff bestie, Carolyn, promises that the calories do not count.  I have already told the staff I do not want to hear a single word about any weight I might gain!

While I usually do not like to admit my age, since it has been all over Facebook and Instagram, there is no point in trying to hide it …  I am officially a dozen years old. But, I’m spry as a 12-week-old kitten and even more beautiful than ever.

12 years old and still feeling as young as a kitten!

If you are in the area, please do stop by and visit us here at the sanctuary!  So much has been happening around here over the past few months, which I would love to share with you now!

First, there were these really nice people called “The HVAC Team,” who spent lots of time here putting in our new air conditioning system.  I have to say, it is working great against all the NJ summer humidity.  And the bonus to the new air conditioning is the fabulous friends we all made in the process.  The HVAC team was so nice, and after their lunch and on their breaks, they would sit and visit with us kitties and play with us.  I will say, there were a few tears when they finished and left, but lots of promises were made to see us soon!

Check out our new furniture — perfectly positioned for Berry and me to catch the sun!

And, in other big news, we have been treated to new furniture!   The Lobby and the suites here at the sanctuary are all so comfy and cozy, not to mention beautifully functional!  So please, stop in and check out this wonderful improvement.  It is, in fact, so fabulous and perfectly placed that Berry and I each have the perfect little square in which to sun ourselves!

Before I sign off and return to my usual Lobby Greeting Duties, I want to thank you for your unwavering kindness and support.  It is because of you, your love and generosity, that I live my best life and reign as the Queen here at Tabby’s Place, celebrating my birthday and all else that is wonderful in life.  I wish you all the same happiness that I have.

I continue to hold you close in my heart each and every day.

All my love,
The Queen Olive
