Update for Olive

What do you mean Olive Month is over?

Happy September to you, my dear sponsor!

It feels like summer is winding down, with August just flying by in a feline frenzy of celebrations.   We are sailing headfirst into September and fall the very same way!   I hope you are ready for all that the changing season brings your way.  I think I am ready!

The entire month of August was spent celebrating my birthday month.  I accurately renamed August “Olive Month!” I will say, I heard that some around here, who should remain nameless (ahem, Princess Prescott), were a little sick of celebrating me.  Well, you know what?  I don’t care!  I was doted on, loved, adored, and treated as the Queen all month long.   Exactly how it should be for me, the Royal-est of the Queens of Tabby’s Place! I have to say, it was just a wonderful month, and I am appreciative of all those who treat me so well!

I have been in good health and great spirits this past month  (of course, celebrating me all month did certainly put me in great moods).  I did end up with a little wound between my toes, but thanks to relaxing spa treatment, that is all healed up with no worries!

Celebrating with my bestie, Luna from Lebanon

And I have to tell you, August 8th was a special day of celebration too: International Cat Day!  You probably know that, in addition to us kitties born here in the United States, there are many who are with us thanks to Animals Lebanon.   One of those special international felines is my bestie and lobbymate, Luna.  She is paraplegic, like me, and we are very close friends.  So I spent my  Sunday celebrating her.  (And I bet you did not think that was even possible for me to celebrate someone other than myself…  but I assure you, it is!).  So to you, Luna, everyone says, “Happy International Cat Day!  We love you, Luna!”

You may have heard that September brings with it our most important fundraiser of the year, The Linda Fund.  The Linda Fund was created to have emergency funds ready to save the most desperate of kitties, facing the most severe illnesses and injuries. To help kitties that are barely hanging on by the hairs on the tip of their tail, in need of a life-saving miracle.  This Linda Fund is there in times of crisis and for immediate help with expensive medical costs.

Did I hear someone say squeeze up??

We here at Tabby’s Place are grateful beyond words for the love and generosity of our dear friends and monthly sponsors, the amazing people like you, along with all our donors throughout the year.  The great thing about the Linda Fund, aside from saving those kitties in extreme peril, is that all funds donated are matched by angel benefactors.  So all the money that is donated to the Linda Fund gets doubled.

I may not be the best at math, but I think I get the concept:  for each squeeze-up treat that is bought for me, another fantastic person I probably will never know magically gives me a second one.  How fabulous is that?  They told me this double the squeeze-up program—I mean the Linda Fund Matching Challenge—runs through September 30th.   I was listening outside the Executive Director’s office the other week (please do not mention to him that I eavesdropped—that will be our little secret!) and I heard the goal this year is $500,000.  Now that is a lot of squeeze ups!

On behalf of all of us here at Tabby’s Place, we are sending great big kisses of thanks to all the donors and benefactors of the Linda Fund!

September is Happy Cat Month – this is my happy face!

I do admit, I love to find a reason to party… while we may no longer be celebrating Olive Month, we are celebrating “Happy Cat Month”.

So September will be an entire month for the staff and volunteers to keep all of us happy, answering our every whim and need so that we are all perpetually happy!    With about 140 of us felines here at Tabby’s Place, that is certainly quite the challenge.   But with so many wonderful and loving people, I assure you, they truly succeed in making September Happy Cat Month!   The only downside to Happy Cat Month over Olive Month is that I have to share it with everyone else in the lobby.   Bummer!

Thank you for all you do for me – Love, Olive

So I think that covers all my news for this month.   Before I go, I just want you to know that I love and appreciate you for the wonderful person, kind and generous sponsor you are.   I do not even want to think about what my life would be without you.  I hope you know how grateful I am and how much I adore and appreciate you!

Tons of Love,
Miss Olive – Royalest Queen of the Lobby
