Editor’s note: What do you get when you take a timid tabby with FIV … add a couple with hearts of gold … and then bring in a baby brother?
You get Remus’s dream come true. And today, you get to read all about it.
Thank you, Awesome Adopters … you are everything we dream of for every cat. We’re so grateful your family is part of our Tabby’s Place family. XO, AT
“Your Adoption Counselor suggested we meet ‘Timmy‘ when we went to meet two different cats, and we knew from our first meeting that there was something special about him. He immediately climbed into my lap (and gave my hand a little nibble).
“Once we had him home, it only took about two weeks for his sweet personality to start coming through. We decided to name him Remus after Remus Lupin, a nod to the werewolf-like transmissibility of his FIV.
“Now Remus is the best cat. He is so affectionate, always giving head bonks and purring. He loves a good snuggle and prefers to be directly on my chest or curled up as the little spoon.
“He can be playful too, chasing after toys or zooming around the house. He likes to be the center of attention and is very insistent about breakfast time. He is loud and not particularly graceful, but to us, he is perfect.
“In 2023, we had a son, James. He arrived unexpectedly early, and Remus’s whole world turned upside down. He was very jealous at first and gave us the cold shoulder. Whether it was James or my mother’s dog that caused him more distress, he was definitely put out.
“Shortly after that change, we moved to a house in Pennsylvania. Remus was intimidated at first, but he grew to love his new home. He watches the birds and squirrels in the backyard from a kitchen chair with a fuzzy mat on the seat. He sits with me while I work (sometimes in a cat pocket!) and sleeps in various sunny spots. At night he sleeps right in our bed with us. He is one spoiled cat!
“As James has gotten older and started dropping bits of chicken and fish during mealtime, Remus has come to terms with being a brother. He watches James play from atop an enormous cat tree, keeps an eye on him when we have a babysitter in the house, and sometimes plays with his toys. James gives Remus gentle pats and likes to lay his head on Remus, and Remus gives James little head bonks on occasion.
I think Remus knows how incredibly important he is to our little family.
We cannot thank Tabby’s Place enough for helping us find Remus!”
What a perfect match! Its so gratifying to hear these stories from our adopters! Blessings to this family!
